If someone has more money there is also Wonder Mill, which in addition to grinding grains apparently can make nut butters! (Yum!) I have no experience on this, I am just basing this on their website. (If anyone has one of these please share your experience!)
This is the Hand mill. Its something like $349.
They also have motorized Wonder Mill version. Somewhere there was a demo where they ran 1000 lbs of grain through it in one day without burning it out. ($279 and $349 base prices) There are accessories of course for more. (Including bean grinding and flaking mill attachments.)
If we did a lot with bread and grains and had a choice I would go motorized and schedule my milling sessions during the "Future World three hours a day Carbon Free Electricity On" period that will be generously alloted by our Engineering Challenged Green-Soc Democrat Overlords. (Or have a generator or solar panels that I could run any time I needed electricity.)
My thought is that if the motorized version and ability to mill large amounts of flower might be a good small Co-opperative investment. (Church food pantry or neighborhood or Small Town Grocery store!)
! Someone in the neighborhood is spiking the sugar water with hormones! :)

Re: Squash Bugs! Those guys are tough. I gave up growing squash. It’s bad enouugh they attract the Squash bugs, but then the bugs get into your cucumbers as well. I kept them off the cucumbers using a 7 Dust product;S Dust Spray. I think it works best if you apply it before you see any SB’s.
Friend of mine boiled her eggshells first and then when dry put them in a freezer quart Ziploc and used a rolling pin, they crush easy after being boiled.

It works great according to her. She winds up with powder to feed back to the chickens. I use that method to chop nuts. Or to crack fennel seeds for sausage making.
OTOH, even the clearance section of Wal-Mart pays off sometimes. I scored a heavy duty 8 ft. 2-section "Ugly Stik" catfishing rod there a couple weeks ago. These are pretty well made & durable. Rated up to 30 lb. line. Regular $50, on clearance for $20. It'd be hard to beat that on ebay, and I've been looking for something similar in yard sales for years.
Now, I'd still like to find a used 3 or 4 section rod 8-10 ft. long and even heavier duty - say for 50 lb. line... ...and that'd never be at my local Wally World(s). In fact, those rods are tough to find anywhere away from an ocean coastline...
(To explain: I'd never EAT a 50+ lb. catfish out of the Ohio River (etc.), but it'd be a lark to catch one sometime. I hooked one, once, and it totally embarrassed my Zebco "Big Water" rig.)
...Well, I might eat it if there was no other food available. At my age I doubt the contaminants will do much to me before I part this life.
Hmmm... the boiled water (once cooled!) might be good for plants needing calcium.
OTOH, I’m also looking for considerable “grit” action from the crushed shells, for our birds.
BTW, a fun thread sometime might be “strangest item you ever bought from a Wal-Mart clearance aisle / sale.” (I have one that gave me a really weird surprise!)
I’ve had to learn to just not go into thrift stores because I usually walk out with SOMETHING. I really enjoy going on the hunt for neat things that people discard that are very usable. Much of the old stuff is way better quality than the cheaply made stuff we see these days.
My best thrift store find happened a few years ago. It was a Cutco bread knife that I got for 75 cents, which currently sells for $137. Love that thing.

Also got a Sonos wireless speaker ($200) for $10. Not bad and is crystal clear sound. It operates on wifi or Bluetooth. We gave it to our son, because we have another setup and this one would’ve interfered with what we use.

In the early Spring, before I have the (seemingly) MILES of hose laid out, I have to find some way to get water to the greenhouse for the plants I have started out there.
On the cheap? Submersible Boat Bilge Water Pump 12v 1100gph Non-Automatic Marine Electric Bilge Pump $14.99 (10.79 at Temu.com)
Computer power supply $21.97 (place and leave paper clip in black to green as here)
Find hose that fits snug over pump outlet, and find large container (like a plastic box) to place pump in, create hole for outlet. Drill/melt 2 small holes for wires, and also cut a section out of each side of container.
Place pump inside and put wires thru holes, and connect piece of hose to it thru container to pump and secure with hose clamp.
Cut screening to fit over cut cover section, and carefully dampen under section where screening goes, and lightly dampen that section and put light bead of Gorilla polyurethane glue (use canvas gloves here) on that section, place screen over it, and Gorilla tape over (serves as clamping).
Next day connect wires (note correct + polarity) and the rest of hose. When read to use immerse pump and turn on. But keep power supply dry. Any short in wires will turn the power supply off for a while.
Good thought in using the water. If you want more grit just don’t roller them that much.
I do not care much whether all the grass it rye, but want inexpensive perennial green grass. So what about Rough Dropseed Native Grass Seeds?
