We used to have hurricane parties back in the 70’s and 80’s. Right near the beach. Best times ever. Today they all run and flee, then six months later video themselves bungee jumping off bridges and swallowing Tide Pods.

Going outside in teh middle of a hurricane is not a good idea...................... I have to confess to standing on my north facing porch while Hurricane Wilma was spinning on top of us. The winds were from the south and so our house (cinder block construction) was acting like a wind break. The home across the street from us had a shingle roof - a very bad decision. We, my son and I, watched one shingle go flying, then another, then a handful, then some more. Suddenly the tar paper was peeling up and the roof was just gone. Our roof was concrete tiles, 12" x 18" and over an inch thick. Our house survived just fine...until 16 days after the hurricane when they restored power and burned the house down...

We were stuck in a roadside park in Florala. Traffic was at a standstill. It took us over an hour to get to Florala from Crestview. We have never ‘evacuated’ again. Opal, Erin, Ivan, Dennis, and numerous Tropical Storms stay right here..................................
