McDonald's has laid off hundreds of workers and cut pay packages for others after shuttering officers across the US.
The fast food firm slashed roles across all departments including marketing, operations, store staff and field offices, the Wall Street Journal reported.
It comes as part of a huge restructuring at the burger giant, which is reportedly part of a bid to re-invent the drive thru across the world.
McDonald's even temporarily shut down offices across the US on Monday as it started to tell some corporate workers about the layoffs.
In recent months, the fast food giant recruited pop culture icons Cardi B and Offset in an attempt to revive the company's fortunes.
Bosses reportedly offered some workers the chance to keep working for the fast food firm but with reduced salaries and changes to their benefits.
The changes are expected to impact at least 10 offices across the US for those working in operations, finance and marketing, leaked emails revealed.
President of McDonald's USA Joe Erlinger said: 'While the McDonald's Brand is in the strongest position it has been in years, we also recognize that our business has grown increasingly complex in recent years.'
Meanwhile an internal email last week said employees should work from Monday to Wednesday so staffing changes could be made virtually.
McDonald's also asked all staff to cancel all in-person meetings with vendors at its headquarters.
U.S. employees laid off exited the company but will remain on the payroll till June 15 and will receive severance after that time.

This is what AOC wanted right? 15 dollar an hour drive thru workers that eventually are replaced with drive thru kiosks? Well played.
“Cardi B and Offset are just another reason I don’t eat McDonald’s.”
O’Buckwheat and McDonald’s Black365 are TWO reasons I haven’t touched that swill in ages.....
The food is what it is, but as someone who with small children, McDonald’s is the place to make bathroom stops when traveling. Always clean and child/baby friendly. Of course I never stopped at one in the inner city.
the McDonald’s Brand is in the strongest position it has been in years

that is an extremely vague claim
Did Dilbert’s boss help him compose that?
If you don’t pull forward, then the cars behind you can’t get to the order machine.
O(ne of their problems is that they never opened for months after everyone else ...
Now around here theyre finally opened but they wont take cash ...
Its all order by Kiosk pay by credit card ...
Who wants to pay less than $1 for a cup of coffee on their credit card each time ...not me ...
My daughter worked there during the summer in high school ... mid 1990s
But that was then
My stock keep killing it. Keep it up McDonald.
Alligator proof too.
If they hand me my order at the window promptly, I’ll be on my way and people can get to the order machine.
Until they get better service don’t expect anything to change.
I never go to mcd’s expecting great service, but even with my low expectation they never manage to disappoint.
I've said the same thing many times.
It’s up big time since Covid hit. What most people don’t understand is that McD Corporate is primarily in the Real Estate business. Burgers are the job of franchise owners. Corporate helps them but MCD is a real estate empire.
I recommend everyone see the movie “The Founder”, you’ll learn all about McD and to me it’s fascinating.
You're right. I remember the first time I was in line at Chick-fil-A when they were slammed - line 20 cars long... I was listening to the radio and almost jumped when someone knocked on the window.
Sure nuff it was a polite young employee asking if I was ready to order. I did. The line moved faster than an eight car line at McDonalds'... and the waffle fries were hot and weren't put in sideways so they didn't spill into the bag.
The feeling? That YOU as a customer - and your time - mattered. It's been a few decades since McDonald's made anyone feel that way
Let me guess, you store is in an area with little diversity
Come on down to the MacDonowds, with the broken ice cream machine.
Your store could be living in some kind of time warp... That McDonald’s sounds like it’s stuck in the late 70’s - early 80’s - a pleasant place to have a burger...
McDonalds and Burger King always seem to go through phases where they target the "urban" market. I.e. they do thing like refer to themselves as MickyDs and BK to sound edgy.
It never works and they chase away Whites and start to lose money, and then they are forced to revert back. Then in a few years they try for the urban market again. They've been doing this flip flop since the 1990's and the results are always the same.
Burger King almost put themselves out of business doing this but it won't stop them from trying again.
Some years back a study was done and it turned out almost one in five adults had worked at McDonald’s as a kid... A better time.
Oh and my first job? Selling candy at a local movie theater. Would you like an extra box of Milk Duds?
