Much has been written in the recent past about the irreconcilable differences between the Left and the Right, and that a national divorce might be appropriate. Many have weighed in on the constitutional implications, and it could even be possible?
In my view, the Constitution has nothing to do with it. For if both sides were willing to follow the Constitution as written, this wouldn't even be an issue. They're not, so to that extent the Constitution is dead already. It certainly doesn't hold us together as a Nation. The differences are indeed irreconcilable, in my opinion.

Above is a 2020 map by county of election results. As you can see, most of the country is Red, with Blue concentrated mostly in cities run, or I should say "mismanaged" by democrats.
This is the way to split up the county that would be workable. The Blues and the Reds are clustered together.

They are voting on this in Oregon on now, trying to join Red Idaho.
Secession isn't going to work. People are going to be crossing boundaries everyday and going through customs every day. Goods crossing the border will be held up, inspected, and taxed. The ports would all be in the hands of the blue counties. Red counties and blue counties will fight over land and resources, and the dividing lines will run through most counties, not between them. Red counties will develop industries of their own, reduplicating what already exists on the other side, and the more the red counties invite corporations in the more they become like the blue counties. The result will be a lower standard of living and more aggravation all around. We won't know how much we benefitted from being part of the United States until we have lost it.

It’s kind of funny... I really like spell checkers. I never could spell even as a child 70 plus years ago. The only word I got down right was Aeroplane, and they changed that one.

In the 20th century we had two examples with the dissolution of Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia. The former being accomplished peacefully and the latter violently.
Lincoln was no angel, and should be replaced as presidential iconography. He oversaw the slaughter of 500,000 Americans. There is no speechifying that justifies that. If the North hated the South, why the desire for Union? It makes no sense… unless empire is the goal.

Unfortunately, I don't think the CSA had formally organized its government at the time. South Carolina seceded before Lincoln even took office.
Greater Idaho Movement.... I know they’re voting that they WANT to leave. But can they? It requires approval from the state they’re a part of, the state they want to move to & the Federal Gov’t. Is that going to happen? No, I don’t think so.

Sounds like the same kind of argument secessionists made prior to the civil war. England would ally with the Confederacy because England needed the South’s cotton. One Southerner defending his home was worth 10 Yankee hirelings.
Both of those arguments turned out to be wrong.

Secession is not war. A war can came after secession but it may not.
