The Biden administration announced its latest home appliance regulations this week, targeting air conditioners in an action it said would reduce the nation's carbon emissions.
The regulations, unveiled Thursday by the Department of Energy (DOE), finalize energy efficiency standards for home air conditioning units, or window air conditioners, and portable air cleaners. The DOE said the move would cut air pollution and push consumer costs down by billions of dollars via energy savings.
"Today’s announcement builds on the historic actions President Biden took last year to strengthen outdated energy efficiency standards, which will help save on people’s energy bills and reduce our nation’s carbon footprint," Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said in a statement.
"DOE will continue to engage with our public and private sector partners to finalize additional proposals like today’s that lower household energy costs and deliver the safer, healthier communities that every American deserves," she continued.
According to the DOE, the new energy efficiency standards will save Americans about $1.5 billion annually and curb carbon dioxide emissions by 106 million metric tons over three decades. The agency added that the regulations were part of President Biden's efforts to promote innovation and lower costs for families "while tackling the climate crisis."
The rules for air cleaners are scheduled to be implemented in 2024 and the rules for room air conditioners are slated for 2026.

The “logical” conclusion is we will all live in cubicals and work 12 hours a day for $10 and a couple bowls of rice.
You will save money by not getting to use power. They will tax your breathing, but still save money on power bills.
Long time ago I was working on a steel shop. The foreman refused to turn on the heat in the winter.
One day I complained, and in about the snootiest tone, said that if I was cold to go buy a space heater.
Okay.
I went to the appliance store and told the salesman, I need a space heater. Show me the most inefficient, energy sucking unit you got.
He said, that would be this model sir.
I told him to wrap it up.
I guess we need to apply this logic to new HVAC systems.

No, leave it on at the White House. Shut it down at the EPA and DoE. Let the bureacrats suffer. They can be constantly reminded that the WH is climate controlled while they suffer.
Typical Biden. Remember his claims that he wouldn’t ban fracking, he only wanted to ‘regulate’ it? Well, he doesn’t want to ban A/C, he only wants to ‘regulate’ it too.
Leftists should go first. Show us how it’s done

I have four portable ac units and central air. Just had new air put in last year so I was going to give away two of the portable AC units. Not now. Damn things run for years if you keep them clean. Will be worth their weight in gold soon.
I read during the fall that they wanted to be able to regulate heating and cooling. Think I read 72 as low in summer.
A year and a half ago I installed a variable speed heat pump and variable speed air handler. It works for me. But I could afford it. Plus I wanted it. Nobody else should be forced to do what I did.
The problem is the new, high efficiency stuff doesn’t work.
And it’s mandated so.
Which one would that be? I remember many of them.
I hope to be alive to watch the carnage when the people rise up and do many months of horrible things to the left before they are beheaded, burned, and the remains shat upon and shipped to D.C.

I have visited family who have the latest ‘energy efficient’ clothes dryer. It takes twice as long to dry anything.
They should change the classifications from ‘energy efficient’ to ‘energy restricted.’
We just got one of those new energy efficient Whirlpool dryers. Takes way longer to dry the clothes than our old Kenmore.
Had to buy a new freezer last week to replace a 1987 frigidaire.
The salesman told me not to expect the same “lifespan” from my new frigidaire.
“Hell hath no fury”...like it should for JoeBiden and his entire camping trip!
Regulate Biden, vote Republican.
Seems to me this says Dems know they can win every election now
The one in July when it got up to 100. Chris Hitchens spoke at it.
Another bit of authority the constitution doesn’t give the federal gov.
