Republican Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul grilled Moderna CEO Stéphane Bancel on Wednesday over whether the shot is safe for teen boys, citing an increased risk of myocarditis.
Bancel testified before the Senate on raising the cost of COVID-19 vaccines.
“Is there a higher incidence of myocarditis among adolescent males ages 16-24 after taking your vaccine?” Paul asked.
“We care deeply about safety and we’re working closely with the CDC to –”
“Pretty much a yes or no,” Paul interjected. “Is there a higher incidence of myocarditis among boys 16-24 after they take your vaccine?”
“The data … has shown there’s less [risk] for people who get the vaccine versus people who get the COVID infection.”
“You’re saying that for ages 16-24 among males who take the covid vaccine, their risk of myocarditis is less than people who get the disease?”
“That is my understanding.”
“That is not true,” Paul shot back, adding six reviewed papers to the record that have shown an increased risk and claiming that Moderna’s president recently acknowledged the increased risk in myocarditis.
“The fact that you can’t say it in public is quite disturbing. Do you think it’s scientifically sound to mandate three vaccines for adolescent boys?”
Bancel tried to avoid answering the question before Paul pushed back and noted Bancel “has been advocating for it.”

Testimony should be under oath.
The Truth. The whole Truth. Nothing but the Truth.
People who make any attempt to “dance” should face real jail time.
These people belong either in prison or the gallows, depending on their involvement and degree of treachery.
Yes.
How? He wasn’t under oath, so he can lie and smile while doing so...
And he did.
“The data … has shown there’s less [risk] for people who get the vaccine versus people who get the COVID infection.”
Even if that were true, it would still be misleading, since not every who doesn’t get vaccinated will get infected.
Yes, if just ONE of these lying, game playing assholes went to prison (solitary confinement @ Pelican’s island) our Congressmen would get 100 times more truthful responses.
These interviews..
The words yes or no should be uttered within 5 seconds, if not an electric shock is delivered.
If they say “I can explain” they should be given a chance to.
Every word before the word “but” is marked as a lie.
The clot shot was not designed to fight Covid.
I vote for gallows.
Cut to the chase brevity award nominee.
Yes! I vote for the short drop hanging so they slowly choke to death.
Will they bill him for the chair he’s sitting in because ‘ liar liar pants on fire’ for this guy must do a lot of damage!?!?
These pharma pigs still would have made billions selling their drug to the old, the obese, and the otherwise health compromised. They could have been heroes. Now they are just modern Mengeles.
I have to admit that this was a hit piece by Paul. There are a number of issues that are twisted in the conversation.
Myocarditis is inflammation of your heart muscle. It is going to happen with this virus whether you take the vaccines or not. It is the bodies natural reaction to either as they act alike, so the body acts alike.
Many people misunderstand the work of a CEO. That job is not to know everything or even be able to get into the pits and work with the product since he is not a physician. So he was not hired (contracted) for that. Big difference between an admin person and a researcher. He is responsible to make the researcher do his/her job, not do it himself. And the entire board is responsible for promoting the product with votes and many times a paid mouthpiece to tell the people the determination. Examples are Tony Snow, Jay Carney, Kayleigh McEnany, and Jen Psaki, all for our recent presidents. But not the president himself unless it is a called press conference or catch him saying something going by.
Paul’s question, ““Is there a higher incidence of myocarditis among adolescent males ages 16-24 after taking your vaccine?” was never intended to discuss the issue and what’s being done. Paul cut him off before he could finish what Moderna was doing with the CDC.
““You’re saying that for ages 16-24 among males who take the covid vaccine, their risk of myocarditis is less than people who get the disease?”
Bancel did make a mistake here. Since science has proven that inflamation of the heart can happen with the virus or the vaccine with the body reacting to the recognition of the same, the proper answer should have been equal at worst. And Paul not allowing him to possibly say they are working with the CDC to determine why there has been a problem in this direction and how they are trying to correct it is not allowing the movement of information by trying to limit it to a yes or no answer. That’s like asking if you only beat your wife on Tuesdays.
“The fact that you can’t say it in public is quite disturbing.”
Actually what is disturbing to me is that Paul is trying to make a point by questioning the wrong person. If the president of the company said it, as determined in the article, then why ask the CEO when it may not be his job? Why not ask the janitor? They both work for the board. Does the POTUS let the department of transportation do their job which includes public or speak for them?
Experts says there’s a small chance of myocarditis or other heart issues from a COVID-19 infection.
The vaccines are there to create a body response in a more controlled atmosphere to act like the virus. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand what happened here. Just the intent behind it on why Paul did it this way and the people he did it with and/or for.
I am not an advocate of vaccines as they are not the answer to the virus and have been sold to the public as the gift from heaven to stop the virus dead in it’s tracks. It never was and both the liberals and conservatives are guilty of allowing it to be misrepresented. So there is an amount of mistrust both ways here thus nothing has been gained unless you apply thought to the article and that gain is that there is a certain amount of agenda to the action. Paul created the mistrust through his format of questions, but for why?

Yes, there is mistrust by the medical/industrial/governmental/media complex of U.S. citizens who prefer to be left alone, as well as mistrust by U.S. citizens of the medical/industrial/governmental/media complex who have continuously lied to and abused the entire world, and who now seek to humiliate and destroy those U.S. citizens who prefer to be left alone.
Mistrust on both sides.
“Many people misunderstand the work of a CEO. That job is not to know everything...”
I think the CEO of a drug company should know enough about the safety of the company’s most important product in order to answer Senator Paul’s very simple questions.
“Paul’s question, ““Is there a higher incidence of myocarditis among adolescent males ages 16-24 after taking your vaccine?” was never intended to discuss the issue and what’s being done. Paul cut him off before he could finish what Moderna was doing with the CDC.”
Paul’s question and his follow-up (“You’re saying that for ages 16-24 among males who take the covid vaccine, their risk of myocarditis is less than people who get the disease?”) were very simple and should have been answerable with a simple yes-or-no. The witness should just answer the question asked. If a witness wishes to make an opening statement or submit something into the record, they are able to request the committee chairman that they be allowed to do so. They should not be allowed to take up the Senator’s limited time allotted for questions to make speeches, go on tangents or talk about whatever they’d like.
“Since science has proven that inflamation of the heart can happen with the virus or the vaccine with the body reacting to the recognition of the same, the proper answer should have been equal at worst.”
Actually, I think appropriate answers include: yes, no, I don’t know or I don’t understand the question. In this case, if there is data one way or the other, let’s hear it. As I understand it, people are typically not tested for myocarditis unless they are symptomatic. It would be nice if there would be a study screening a large population of asymptomatic persons for myocarditis (or markers / proxies) and break down the results between the different combinations of vaccination status.
I’m thinking that they should be given a choice:
a) go to jail and every asset your family has will be seized and your loved ones will be thrown out on the street.
b) go to the gallows and your family keeps whatever is left over after your fines and other penalties are paid.
