Amanda Bynes has been placed on a psychiatric hold after she was found roaming the streets naked and alone ... TMZ has learned.
An eyewitness tells us ... Bynes was seen walking near downtown Los Angeles early Sunday morning without any clothes. We're told Bynes waved a car down, telling the driver she was coming down from a psychotic episode. Amanda herself then called 911.
Our law enforcement sources say Bynes was taken to a nearby police station, where a mental health team determined she needed to be placed on a 5150 psych hold.
Fortunately, our sources say it doesn't appear Bynes was hurt at all during the ordeal, though things could've been much worse given the area where she was found.
A source close to Amanda tells us she's currently hospitalized, and will likely continue to receive care for several days. Typically, a psychiatric hold only lasts 72 hours, but it can be extended.
It was almost one year to the day when Amanda's 9-year conservatorship was officially terminated. Amanda's mother was her conservator starting back in 2013 when it was clear she was having issues with her mental health -- she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. After a series of bizarre incidents -- including one where she set her neighbor's driveway on fire, almost engulfing her dog in flames -- she was sent to a psychiatric ward for treatment.
Interestingly enough, Amanda was supposed to attend 90s Con in Connecticut this weekend, an event she canceled on due to illness.
Since the conservatorship ended, Amanda seemed to be doing well for herself, though the most recent incident is obviously very concerning ... it's unclear if her parents or legal team will step in.
It's almost as if the lefties in Hollywood have something to do with kids acting super traumatized after spending time with them.
I am reminded of when Michael Jackson died and they were like "He was a child sensation in the '70s who went on to become the king of pop in the '80s and in the 2000s has been making a triumphant comeback' and I thought 'uh, what about the 90s? Oh. Oh yeah. Never mind.'
Smoking cannabis triggers schizophrenia in some.
Get the THC out of their system and they clear up— unless they use again.
It’s finally being acknowledged in the press, the pro-dopers denied it could happen.
If you’d seen this kid on Nickelodeon you know what a tragedy this is. She was amazing—witty, talented and appealing. She should have grown up to be on the Hollywood a-list.
No. That’s Jennifer Lawrence. Both cute though.
Really? I thought Jennifer Lawrence too.
I’m convinced it’s JL now.
True...
Struggling with substance abuse....is euphemism for a person who is out of control...usually an element of a mental disorder. The Unabomber was a Ph. D mathematician. Bynes, an actress. If you are mentally ill...it doesn’t matter what you did before the illness took over your life. Hopefully she can disappear from public view and get the best help possible.
Imagine peaking in your teens, almost royalty status, and then losing it all in your 20s.
People regain their lives and sanity whe correctly diagnosed and treated for bipolar disorder.
I don’t know who peed in your cornflakes.
She said she had been psychotic and was in bad enough shape that they put her on a hold.
Bipolar is a scam. Have personal experience with a loved one who was killed by the diagnosis. It took 15 years but it all started with the diagnosis. So piss off!
A well diagnosed and well treated bipolar often gets his life back. It may not be the life trajectory that was hoped before the mental illness diagnosis. But it is usually manageable.
A percentage of diagnosed mentally ill never really recover footing. Sadly.
Shame. The Amanda Show was a real hoot back in the day - I actually enjoyed watching with the kids.
So did I. But even then I was uneasy about how they treated their child stars. And now we see the results.
Child / teen star from back in the 90’s................
That's Jennifer Lawrence, she and Amanda Bynes look a lot alike, just 4 years different in ages.....................
