(March 17, 2023)- On March 16, 2023, at approximately 9:11 p.m., officers from the Cape Coral Police Department responded to a call for service at 2100-Block of SW 45th Terrace, Cape Coral, Lee County, Florida, in reference to a boating hit and run.

The call notes stated that a male, later identified as Kurt James Snowden (W/M 8-25-1971, 2517 SW 52nd Street), was highly intoxicated and was operating a boat inside the canals, causing a scene. Mr. Snowden played music loudly, screamed, disturbed the peace, and struck several docks in the area with his boat.

Contact was made with witnesses who all had similar accounts of what had transpired. These witnesses led officers to where Mr. Snowden was still operating the boat. Officers gave Mr. Snowden numerous lawful commands to dock his boat, which he verbally refused to do, and fled the area by boat towards the direction of his home.

With the assistance of Cape Coral Fire Department’s Marine Unit and Lee County Sheriff’s Office Aviation, Officers tracked Mr. Snowden back to his home address. After numerous attempts to dock his damaged boat, Mr. Snowden’s boat was docked, and he got off. Officers gave Mr. Snowden commands, and he complied; he was immediately detained without further incident.

Mr. Snowden refused to participate in Standardized Field Sobriety Tests/Evaluations (SFSTs) and refused to provide a sample of his breath.

Mr. Snowden was subsequently transported to Lee County Jail.

Mr. Snowden was charged with the following:

[Additional charges to follow for Hit and Run]
