Appears to be a rat terrier. Great little dogs. I have a half chihuahua and half rat terrier. She can dispatch a rat in two seconds . I saw her pull one running up a wall and shaking it to death. Or I’ve seen her crunch down on their backbones breaking their back. Very fast and efficient hunters. And very loving, smart loyal pets.

Small dogs are actually better than cats as mousers. There are videos of “ratters” on YouTube that kill hundreds of rats in an hour or two.

Most cats I’ve seen in my neighborhood seem to prefer killing birds and small mammals like young rabbits—which is why I despise them. They seem to spend all their spare time hunting. Dogs much less.

“Good boy!”

Now, if we could just teach him to eat palmetto bugs.

More than mice, the biggest vermin in North Jersey suburbia when I lived there was deer. Those domesticated rats with antlers ate shrubs and bushes with impunity since the local RINOs who wouldn’t let me bow hunt them. If a pack of feral cats attacked them I’d cheer.

Here is a great rat trap that can be used outdoors. Rats eat fruits from my trees so I am going to make this one

I felt sorry for the rat after reading the title. Then I realized he was damaging the plaster/sheetrock. Anything that causes me to get out the spackle or a paint brush is gonna make me livid. I once duct-taped the two-year old grandchild to a stair post all day because she drew on my wall. Rat deserved everything he got.

I’m old enough I actually remember when this area (S Indiana) had virtually no deer. It didn’t take me long to realize I hated them as well. Why?

1. I love to garden. Deer love to eat my gardens.
2. The tick scourge followed them in under a decade, no one will ever change my mind that white tailed deer are the underlying reason for enormous tick populations.

I used to have a friend that was a Dept of Resources Forrester. He showed me a trail cam picture of a deer and I asked him why it had bunches of grapes hanging from its face. He said look closer—-they were clusters of ticks all swollen to the size of grapes!!!😳 They walk around all summer like that dropping off the swollen females that lay then hatch hundreds of eggs each.

I call whitetail deer Tick Factories.

I have used this for roaches and palmetto bugs, ADVION! Maybe better deal on eBay. I freeze it to prolong its life. Or refrigerate. This is so effective that you can keep two tubes and split the buy with someone.

Do not squirt onto kitchen and bathroom surfaces. Instead, squirt 1/3 teaspoon into a plastic bottle cap. Watch it disappear, get eaten overnight. Repeat as necessary

How did the mouse get into the 4x4 box? Usually not much room in there, or a way to access it.

Thank you! We just developed a palmetto bug problem in my house in Charlotte. Good news...after entering the house, they tend to die quickly. Bad news...they’ve laid eggs somewhere. I’ve got to get rid of them or the wife is moving out.

Wait a minute...let me think about that for a second...

We haven’t had mice/rats YET, but it’s always something: Palmetto bugs, little tiny black ants, carpenter ants, carpenter bees, STINK BUGS, deer as mentioned (always deer). Don’t get me started on the yard (poa grass, weeds, etc...the friendly little brown snakes that freak the wife out).

I’m guessing there’s a ½” or ¾” knockout plug out of the box. Little guy came up inside the walk and crawled thru the hole in the junction box. It doesn’t take much for those suckers to get thru. That’s why errant holes in boxes should be filled with a snap-in plug.

Well, so much for breakfast....

I'm not kidding when I tell you, the deer were FEARLESS. Those rats would stand there and give me this "STFU and let me eat" look when I'd approach them as they munched on our juniper trees.

The only deer I like is venison. Minus the Lyme disease.

I have a little black and tan dog who is a chihuahua/dachshund mix. He is a great ratter, and has the highest prey drive of any dog I’ve ever known. A squeaky toy kicks him into overdrive.

He is also a frisbee expert, and will catch and retrieve to the point of total exhaustion.

I wish mine would play frisbee, ball or something. Hunt lizards all day long is her passion too.

Solution to two year old drawing on the wall is to tape some butcher paper to the wall and tell her to stay on the paper \.
