Think tank time folks... It's coming, there is no stopping it. Now is the time to address it and prepare for it. All ideas welcome and I have few of my own. Starting with and including secret organizations and local black market "exchange" banks backed by hard assets such as equity, title loans, and local credit organizations. Local exchanges with their own local physical currency. Let's take it out of their hands and keep it in local hands just like the Mafia does.
And anyone who breaks their oath of loyalty and silence gets Indian justice. They get burned at the stake, tied over Anthills, or skinned alive and dumped out in Walmart parking lots still alive. I don't give a damned how "brutal and savage" you might think these methods are. But THEY WORK to install fear into those who might snitch. It only needs to be done a couple times to set the example, and then the example lasts for years and years.
Screw them and their laws. They are breaking laws by even creating this concept. The only way to fight back is fire against fire. It is going to be a matter of survival and war. There are no rules or laws in war. You cheat to survive period. An unjust immoral law is not a law bound by morality. They take a swing at us, we take a swing back. There are no rules in this war for basic survival...
For the overwhelming majority of species, seeds keep best when they’re dry and cold. The warehouse manager for Baker Creek told me he tries to keep the percent humidity and the temperature in Fahrenheit low enough that when added together they equal less than 100. The colder and drier they are, the longer they’ll keep. Some people keep their seeds in an airtight container in the freezer to maximize their storage life. There are even seed banks built into the Arctic permafrost, where countries keep an emergency stash of important seeds.
But, in my experience, most seeds keep fine at room temperature as long as they’re dry. Personally, I keep most of mine in my bedroom next to the bookshelf. I’ve had some there for more than 20 years, but when I planted them they still grew.
This assumes you’re already keeping them safe from bugs and rodents, of course. Airtight containers work really well for this, especially if you add a desiccant packet like you sometimes find in the box with electronics.
There are a handful of species where the seed needs to be kept moist and warm to remain viable, but those are rare. 99.99% of crops, the seed stores best when its cold and dry.
Of course I was not serious about Indian Justice. But this is exactly what is going to happen from the criminal gangs and cartels when their preferred method of exchange is deleted. It is going to hand them even more territory and power over communities through black market economies. Think they are violent now, just wait until cash is threatened. The parallel black market economies are coming one way or another.
“Ah, the old, “If you have nothing to hide, no worries.” Until one day, you’re buying a case of beer, and the cashier says, “Your card payment is denied. The computer says that you are entitled to only one six-pack per week. A whole case is unhealthy.”
Absolutely, you can bet on it. As the woke cashier smirks and revels in the power and Nazi authoritarianism they have been handed over their customers. The sadistic Nazi authoritarianism they exercised over their customers during the mask mandates and purchase limits was nothing compared to how much they will enjoy this concept.
We live in a world governed by Satan (although the Lord is still ultimately sovereign and in control), evil can only be restrained until the end of the age of grace and the church is taken up.
All we can and should do is slow things down.
That is exactly what we are supposed to do, leaven the lump.
“Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s.” Use Caesar’s money to spend and buy things of value. Just don’t save it. Use gold, silver, ammunition, non-perishable food, etc. as your savings.
I just order by the case from my local liquor store. The stuff never goes bad.
That works too (and no need to deal with all that winter rye) but I was also thinking of water purification, which is a thing that a still will also do.
I’ll bet, though, that people would be happier to trade to obtain your stuff with a label than my moonshine :)
I have a purification kit all ready to deploy should it be necessary. Been prepping for many years.
:)
We are pretty sure you have no idea where it leads if you think there will be independent digital cash.
I am opposed to all of that, the point is, it is coming and you will have absolutely nothing to say about it. A few holdouts will manage for a while but they will be no problem for the elitist, they will just ignore you. Well unless you become a major problem then the military we have sworn would never gun down their own citizens, will gun you down.
I have made the real stuff in the Cookson Hills back in the fifties. Anyone can make a jug of wine from several sources but nothing that will meet your needs like real moonshine can.
Feds shut down the moonshiners there in the early fifties by tracking sugar sales.
I think I know a lot more than the average person. But, you read an article on FR about it. That’s almost like staying at a Holiday inn.
At least I would get a chocolate rather than the B$ you are peddling.
You seem angry. You should talk to someone about that.
Who you calling nobody?
Millions of us live here and in a much saner, safer, more sustainable, more self sufficient way. DC/msm and city people like to pretend we don't exist of course and for just those reasons. When they do acknowledge our existence, they like to think of us as dumb but when covid hit, meat and staples flew off the shelves faster than anything. The chip/snack aisle was fully stocked though. Oh and there was still some plant based meat alternative because that just doesn't sell here. Kids got off a month early from school in Spring 2020 but went back in Fall 2020 as scheduled because we trusted our observations over any experts, officials or talking heads. The Dawn of the Dead thing we were promised, never happened so we got back to normal. I don't know of any small business that failed, not even independent restaurants. They went back to indoor seating a year before the fast food places opened their dining areas. Blanket religious exemptions from the jab were given by most nursing homes, med centers etc.
and electric still goes out here. We have a lot of wind in the Ozarks and a lot of trees don't get a good tap root due to rocky ground. Since houses can be a mile apart, that's a lot of electric line per household for the electric co-op to cover too. Last time power went out, I fired up the generator to make sure we didn't lose any refrigerated/frozen food because it was out for 8 hours. Rural electric co-ops provide power to 42 million people. Only 12% or so of the population but probably 50% of the nations power lines by miles.
Pic would be more accurate if it was raining/snowing/sleeting, windy and 35 degrees because that's when the badass trucks and linemen tend to have to go to places like this. It's also usually a 30 wide swath with thick forest for walls on either side but I couldn't find a better pic.
As for the OP's subject of cashless, a lot of ads on craigslist in this area are trade only. "Will trade for" _______. Every grocery store has a bulletin board and many other places will let you post things. That will supplement or replace craigslist. Every Saturday morning, the local talk radio station has a garage sale. People call in and say they have an item for sale or are looking for an item and give a phone number. After that, it becomes two individuals making a private deal and usually the final deal will be in person. Track that gubmint. Kinda nice living in a place where people have little trust in the system.
I've been a prepper on and off for many years and when I saw empty shelves in Italy, I went out and bought the small freezer we'd been wanting for a while and filled it with meat and veggies. Also bought three 18 packs of Mega Roll TP. When the shortages hit, I drove by hundreds of head of beef cattle to go see empty meat dept. I'm getting into gardening more every year. I see deer every day.
IF they go CDBC/cashless, I'll keep working and buying what I can that way and produce as much as I can and do some trading. A year's worth of veggies for a year's worth of beef would probably be a realistic trade around here, especially if some of those veggies were canned. Some just raw pack and processed and some made into recipes and canned. Hot sauce, pasta sauce, bbq sauce, soups/stews, beans etc. Dehydrated onions, taters.
Salt and sugar are fairly cheap and if stored properly, last forever and are flavorings plus preservative. Wheat kernels will store forever but you'd have to get a grain mill or ten. 500lbs of each would last quite a while for personal use and barter. There's a Mennonite run discount grocery store about 100 miles away that also has 50lb sacks of white sugar, brown sugar, raw sugar, red or white wheat kernels, various beans. Salt I can get from the grocery store or walmart in 25lb bags. I currently buy my sugar in 25lb bags and keep it in a frosting bucket that most grocery store bakeries use and will sell for $2/ea. The round Allen brand frosting buckets are 4 gal and have a rubber o-ring seal.
OK, I’m gonna have to borrow that
