A six-month old baby of a dear friend is in an ICU for RSV infection. Does anyone here have hind-sight experience with that that they'd share?

Jude is an adorable and perfect little guy. *pic below*. He went from healthy to struggling to breathe in what seemed overnight and is now in PICU. I am helpless to do anything but pray and posting here came to mind. If nothing else, may help ease the stress on Mom and Dad a tiny bit. Thanks for any advice.

Praying for him. My twins both almost died of it 26 years ago. One was on a ventilator a month, and the other has a brain injury from side effects.

I’m guessing they have better treatments now.

One of my granddaughters had a lung infection from breathing in her poop. I forgot what the condition was called, but she was in ICU and going down. We found a priest in the hospital and asked if he’d baptize and pray for her.

The following episode in the baby ICU was epic. He just about did a full on exorcism.

She got better too:)

He will probably be just fine. There’s some coughing and difficulty with breathing and wheezing but ultimately it is a respiratory virus that practically all children have to deal with. It takes a couple of days. Oxygen and humidity, and a constant temperature of the environment will provide comfort. Also the presence of one or two parents or another close family member. Prayers are on they sure can’t hurt but they don’t help a whole hell of a lot except to make the prayers offerer feel like they did something

I dunno man. I personally have witnessed previously unchanged adverse health conditions go away for reasons unknown except for the fact that prayer was performed over the person with the condition. One particular was an approx 1/2" diameter open wound on the bottom of MY foot where I could literally pick dead flesh out from it when I was about 16 years old. My dad prayed over it and 3 days later it was about gone. Absolutely honest to God truth.

I’ve also personally seen weather clouds move perpendicular to their previous track and miss a construction site that I was working on to help my brother. My Mom and I prayed that God would restrain the rain and not saturate my brothers house. That red blip on the radar track moved 90 degrees from heading straight for us and missed us right after the prayer. If I had not witnessed this stuff myself I’d be a doubting Thomas just like you. The stuff is REAL...and so is God.

I disagree. It may often seem that way,that prayers don’t help, but I had a personal experience that there is no explanation for besides supernatural. I wont go into all the details. I had a 2.5 month old son go thru the windshield and on to the pavement during a terrible car accident. He survived the crash but was given little hope. I was told that IF he survived he would have severe brain damage due to skull fractures. There was nothing they could do for him. Three days later our church of 10,000 people prayed for him. Afterwards I went to the hospital and he was out of intensive care....home in less than a week. Doctors could not explain. Straight A student. Totally normal. Prayer.

I went through this with my youngest at the same age 2 decades ago.

I spent 3 days with an undone shirt so my baby could rest on my chest. They draped the oxy tent over us with my head sticking out as she wouldn’t allow the nasal tubes. It is traumatic for the baby so staying with them to lessen the impact is important.

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a common respiratory virus that usually causes mild, cold-like symptoms. Most people recover in a week or two, but RSV can be serious for infants and older adults and is the most common cause of bronchiolitis (inflammation of the small airways in the lung) and pneumonia (infection of the lungs) in children younger than 1 year of age in the United States. Very common in small children; nearly all children become infected with RSV by age 2. In the United States RSV infections are most common from fall through spring.
