I can just imagine the thread had social media been around when cars started. On your horse and buggy, you turn to your wife and say, “those liberals think a steel weird looking box is really going to replace our gorgeous horse and buggy”? Idiots!

You should have stuck with your first thought Kurt.

Also, research shows that using an electric bike for transportation can save thousands of dollars per year compared to car ownership. I don't have the slightest problem spending thousands more to drive something that is much more comfortable, warmer in the winter, cooler in the summer and above all, much safer to get around in. Eco fascists can sing the praises of something like this to the high heavens and I still won't be the slightest bit interested.

From the news source :" ..the initial cost of the Mate SUV will only be around $6,900 once it's released in September 2023.
It will be manufactured in Italy and sold in the U.K. and Europe,
however, no word yet on when it will hit the streets in the USA."

It is 3 miles on a winding country road into town for me to attend church, get groceries, visit library, & etc. Thus is this electro-bike “street legal”? It has no front or rear lights, no turn signals, no seat belts or air bags. And how is its traction in several inches of snow?

“Now there are cars mixed in with that mess.”
there were a few cars AND trucks in 1981 too ... we were there at the invitation of the PRC gov and traveled by gov-supplied chauffeured automobiles and interpreters at all times ... the drivers were all literally professionals and it always amazed us that we saw no accidents as the few cars somehow managed to penetrate and navigate the rivers of bicycles ...

What they won't put in the advert for that thing is something every long-time motorcyclist and bicyclist knows:
If you want to survive on a bike (or trike) you have to ride with the understanding that everything with four wheels (or more) IS TRYING TO KILL YOU

I was there in 1991 to install software at the new Shanghai airport. We were also amazed at the choreography of the Chinese road system. Accidents do happen, and they are spectacular with plenty of collateral damage. How they drive so well in those conditions is a mystery.
