Switch to plant-based diet could boost prostate cancer survival
Medical Xpress / Am Cancer Soc / 2023 Am Soc of Clinical Oncology Genitourinary Cancers Symposium ^ | Feb. 16, 2023 | Steven Reinberg / Vivian Liu et al

Following a healthy plant-based diet after a diagnosis of prostate cancer may help prevent the disease from progressing or recurring, a study suggests.

Men who ate a diet rich in fruits, vegetables and whole grains had a 52% lower risk of cancer progressing and a 53% lower risk of recurrence, compared with men who had the lowest amounts of plants in their diet, the researchers found.

A plant-based diet may have these benefits because fruits and vegetables contain antioxidants and anti-inflammatory components, as well as dietary fiber that improve glucose control and reduce inflammation, she explained.

Also, this diet reduces potentially harmful exposures to animal-based foods, such as hormones and heterocyclic amines created during high-temperature cooking, which have been linked to prostate cancer in particular, Liu said.

Diets high in animal protein may also increase insulin resistance, while milk and dairy may increase levels of the growth factor IGF1, which has been associated with prostate cancer risk, she noted.

For the study, Liu and her colleagues used data from a study that collected information on more than 2,000 men with prostate cancer.

Over a median of seven years, the researchers found that men who reported diets that included the highest amounts of plants had a lower risk of both progression and recurrence, compared with men who ate the lowest amounts of plants. This association did not vary by age, walking pace or the severity of cancer.

"Post-diagnostic healthful plant-based diets, including vegetables, fruits, legumes and whole grains, may be associated with a reduction in risk of prostate cancer progression and recurrence, adding to a list of other numerous health benefits including a reduction in diabetes, cardiovascular disease and overall mortality," Liu said.

It occured to me recently that the Reset, Tribulation, or whatever probably involves forcing one to eat what goes against the Bible. Theink about when Daniel would not eat the King’s meat or food. Bow before the giant statue, eat what we say, no buy or sell without approval. So, crickets, mealworms may be the offeriing. The demonic ones mean business when it comes to defying God to the max.

What we have now are previews of coming attractions. And what's coming will be pretty gross probably including what you're talking about. Actually VERY gross.

Born-again Christians will be saved from the wrath to come via the "Great Catching Up" AKA the "Rapture", so we'll be watching Daniel's 70th Week AKA the 7-year Tribulation from the Heavenly Mezzanine.

Most of the difference in mortality was do to more cardiovascular problems in meat eaters, probably because of the choline content of certain animal proteins (red meat in particular), and choline can metabolize into TMOA which causes heart disease.

Men who onsume chocolate or meat consume more iron than they need. If the body has more iron than it needs, it puts iron in the heart, liver, and pancreas.

Pigs are omnivores..they’ll eat anything. I’ve seen them eat pigeons. Back in the 50’s and earlier pigs got everybody’s garbage.

Based on personal experience, I wouldn’t too worked up about this article. I was diagnosed osed with Stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer 8½ years ago. At that time, the 5-year survival rate was about 54%. My diet is definitely not mostly plant-based.

I’ve responded exceptionally well with just the early stage androgen deprivation therapy. In fact, I’ve responded so well, my oncologist has told me my cancer may never progress.

I’m almost 70, and why die with the misery of a vegan diet. Rather die a happy man.

Please look into boron, which can reduce prostate cancer tumor size.

There are several other supplements that can help, too.

I don’t take it, but it might help. I’ve got some issues with kidney function numbers, so I’m limiting the amount of supplements I take.
