“… Why should hospitals be forced to care for people who won’t pay? I am not sure that is ethical, either.

I am sorry this lady suffered and died. But I don’t think assuming everyone else is going to take care of you is the answer.”

Where did the police dump the dead woman? It wasn’t clear.

They tried to get her into a van, but it was too high and she was very heavy. Finally they brought around a regular cruiser and more or less dragged her into the back seat of it, where she slumped down. She tried to sit up several times, possibly hoping it would make it easier for her to breathe, but either she didn't have the strength to stay up, or was too dizzy, but finally she lay down on the seat, and her breathing became more and more labored and rough, with wheezing and moaning. Then it got fainter. Then it stopped.

I believe both the hospital and police are at fault. The police should have just transported her to another nearby hospital. The lady would’ve probably gone along willingly and perhaps she would still be alive today.

The lady was claiming a variety of symptoms for conditions which she clearly did not have, and the hospital admins decided to get rid of her.

I think what she clearly did not have was the means to pay them, and that was a deciding factor. I'd be interested to know what state her ankle was in, and whether she'd already had one stroke when they evicted her. Apparently she'd spent the whole night in the parking garage. So many hours had gone by when the hospital called the police. It seems her condition must have deteriorated still more (or was bad to begin with, but as I said, the hospital deemed her indigent and simply declined to deal with her.)

I DID watch the video and the officers’ and security detail’s actions and attitudes were, frankly, “I could give a shit about you.”

I'm particularly disturbed by the business about the inhaler. Did it not look to you like one fellow found a box with the refill of the inhaler in her suitcase, and just put it back without attaching it and handing it to her? It seems like no matter what else they should have done, they should have handed her the inhaler she was begging for.

I think they should have gone back into THAT hospital and said, “Hey, can someone come back out here to reassess? She may not have been dying last night, but she looks kinda awful right now.”

They just flat decided she was a worthless bum who didn’t merit anything above the law’s minimum requirements, IMO.

I remember one of them talking about 17 packs of cigarettes and such and that’s probably one of the factors about ignoring any inhaler devices.

Regardless, I maintain that IF she were not white and was black, Hispanic or Asian (or some kind of professed transgender victim) she’d be alive today.

Well, she does have family, as this was under one of the pictures, but they may not be in the area where she lives:

Lisa's family have said that they 'can't believe the way she was treated', adding 'she did not deserve to be treated like that, nobody does'
Lisa's family have said that they 'can't believe the way she was treated', adding 'she did not deserve to be treated like that, nobody does'

And yes, it's a tragic end. I think the hospital needs to be investigated myself, if she was seriously having issues. I would think an autopsy should ne able to determine if she did or not.

Like Alec Baldwin trusted his assistant?

More info:

Her family appeared on the news. They described her as loving and caring. She moved to Rhode Island in 2018. She had a stroke in 2019 that left her physically disabled, but she was not mentally disabled. She still was very independent. (She was only 60.)

She’d just flown back to Tennessee to live with a friend. The flight was arranged by the nursing home. After the flight, she was taken to one hospital where she was evaluated and discharged.

Then, she went to this hospital, where she was observed overnight and released. She refused to leave, and hospital security called the police.

She must’ve been insured, probably through Medicaid. Hospitals kick insured patients out, too.

Wondering... Was her friend contacted? Was the friend unable to pick her up?

And why wasn’t this woman sent to a nursing home? That’s typically what hospitals do. Someone on staff at the hospital makes the arrangements.

The hospital website shows a Patient Representative on staff: https://www.fsregional.com/patients-visitors/patient-representative/

Maybe they did offer all these things, but she still refused to leave. In that case, the hospital still is at fault for refusing to provide her with the emergency care she needed.

Maybe there’s a glitch in the search engine.

One of the other articles you posted (the one about the mega prison) was a duplicate, too.

The only reason I noticed is that I’d just read both articles before your duplicates popped up.
