‘Of Course They Need To Ruin It’: Fans Rebel Against New ‘Lord Of The Rings’ Movies Announced By Warner Bros.

“Lord of the Rings” fans are less than thrilled about the Thursday announcement from Warner Bros. that indicates the company plans to make more films based on the franchise.

The decision comes less than a year after the big-budget Amazon TV series “The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power” was released to mixed reviews. The television project and all previous film adaptations are based on the epic high-fantasy book series by British author J.R.R. Tolkien.

Warner Bros. Pictures announced Thursday that they signed a multi-year agreement with Swedish media company Embracer Group to revisit Tolkien’s work. Director Peter Jackson was behind the “Lord of the Rings” film trilogy in the early 2000s and is apparently part of the new deal as well.

“Twenty years ago, New Line took an unprecedented leap of faith to realize the incredible stories, characters and world of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ on the big screen. The result was a landmark series of films that have been embraced by generations of fans,” Warner Bros. Pictures executives Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy said in a statement, according to Entertainment Weekly.

“But for all the scope and detail lovingly packed into the two trilogies, the vast, complex and dazzling universe dreamed up by J.R.R. Tolkien remains largely unexplored on film. The opportunity to invite fans deeper into the cinematic world of Middle-earth is an honor, and we are excited to partner with Middle-earth Enterprises and Embracer on this adventure.”

Social media fans were not happy to hear the announcement. The original trilogy is widely regarded as three of the greatest and most influential films ever made. All three movies were financially successful, raking in close to $3 billion worldwide and earning widespread acclaim from critics and audiences.

“No. No no no no no. Stop wrecking things,” one reaction to the announcement said.

“Part of me feels like this incessant need to remake or reimagine movies we grew up loving is to intentionally demoralize us and taint the good memories we have of certain films,” another Twitter user agreed. “I have zero faith they won’t remake this in their woke image.”

“The trilogy was perfect but of course they need to ruin it,” another person echoed.

It hasn’t been announced yet what Jackson’s role in the initiative will be, but the director shared in a statement that he’s excited about being involved. “Warner Bros. and Embracer have kept us in the loop every step of the way,” Jackson and his writing partners, Fran Walsh and Phillipa Boyens, said in a joint statement, per EW.

“We look forward to speaking with them further to hear their vision for the franchise moving forward.”

The 3 movies are some of the best movies ever made.

then the next 3 will be even better! Still call it "LOTR" but make all three installments about Tom Bombadil. Nothing else. Well, and his hot wife, Britney.

Screw the midgets and wizards. We already saw all that.

I've never watched LOTR, but I agree with whoever wrote this:

...intentionally demoralize us and taint the good memories we have of certain films.”

It's like they're rubbing our noses in it, saying, "The world you loved and cherished is gone, from now on it will be what we want, and there's nothing you can do about it."

Oh...but there IS.

Simply refuse to watch them, pay the producers a dime and buy no products that are advertised there. See? Easy.

Properties need to make money. Other wise why own them.

Bilbo Baggins passed away three years ago, so he won’t be rebooting anything.

Hollywood seems incapable of coming up with anything new — or even anything old that it hasn’t already done in recent years.

Where’d you see that? Everything I’ve heard is Vince Gilligan is done with that universe. 11 critically acclaimed seasons is enough.

Remake Gone With The Wind, Remake Casablanca, Remake Exodus, but this makes no sense...............

Let them “reimagine” these first...

Roots - but with illegal aliens - now titled Beans. The protagonist is now Juan Valdez with his coffee bean toting donkey.

The Color Purple - now titled The Color Rainbow - about the struggles of gay people that pioneered the US Space Program.

I’m really tired of children’s books being the dominant television and movies of this era. Enough with the elves and people running around in leotards.

Ah, but Dean Swift - they are not books for children (with the exception of Tom Bombadil, perhaps).

Is it the one that says Marvel Studios? And has “Jimmy” being a basass by using clips from Nobody (which is a fun movie)? Definitely fake.

this proves the vacuum of original content being produced in Hollywood.

I hope this new regurgitation smells with the usual odeur de blech!

In the UK, they’re going after author Roald Dahl’s children’s books to make them gawd awful boring without the colorful and imaginative characters. You know, PC.

The probably have Peter Jackson tied up and gagged in some dank room somewhere. Luca Brazzi and Don Corleone made him agree to attach his name to this new childhood assassination attempt.

He’s Pentangele as Michael is arriving at the Senate hearing with Pentangele’s brother.

We don’t need more movies but would love to see it as a mini series. That way we can explore more of the books. Like Tom Bombadill who is absent from the movies.

My wish would be to see all the Dune prequels written by the son to make it to movies or TV.

Been reading Game of Thrones and it occurred to me no one will ever match the beauty of Tolkien’s works.
