It doesn’t matter if the animal was doing “what comes naturally”.
Predators should be removed if humans are to live thete.
zOur ancestors understood that even if you don’t.
that bites...
A few years ago I was fishing a park pond on Hilton Head Island. I hooked a bass, a couple of pounds and was playing it on my light tackle when a gator popped up and charged it. I slid it up onto the bank and the gator pursued it out of the water, chomped down and ate it in one swallow.
Thereafter I kept a respectable distance from the water’s edge!
Prayers for her and family.
My heart breaks for them all.
Elderly lady may not have had brain cloud going on or from out of town.
Whatever circumstances very tragic and sad.
Animal. Try that again ANIMAL.
You cannot murder an animal.
Remember I said you need to examine your premises? You really should know what words mean before using them.
“Predators should be removed if humans are to live thete.”
So the answer is to become a predator and kill the gators when they have been there for 8 million years. Strange how you can invite humans to kill them and become what you think the gators are...killers.
“Our ancestors understood that even if you donāt.”
Do alligators hunt people? No, they do not. Alligators do not naturally regard humans as prey, unlike the crocodile. It’s actually the other way around as humans nearly hunted them into extinction in the 1950’s and they weren’t taken off the endangered list until 1987.
However, attacks on humans are on the rise due to the loss of their habitat and irresponsible behavior of humans (feeding them, approaching and harassing them) that all contribute to lessening their natural fear of man.
And something you might also consider:
Alligators are mostly opportunistic predators. They eat whatever is the easiest prey, based on size and availability. Their diet consists primarily of fish, birds, turtles, snakes, frogs, and mammals. One thing under that list is Burmese Pythons that have been questionably introduce to Florida since the 1970’s. They are found primarily in and around the Everglades ecosystem in south Florida where they prey on birds, mammals and other reptiles. A female Burmese python may lay 50 to 100 eggs at a time.
Since 2000, more than 17,000 wild Burmese pythons have been removed from the state of Florida. They are not a nature animal of Florida as their home is basically South America. They were introduced by people releasing them into the wild as the pet owners didn’t wish to care for them. They more than the gators, are entering with direct contact with humans and efforts to remove them has been weak at best. And they are decimating the everglades killing non-invasive species and destroying the ecosystem.
This is why under the leadership of Gov. Ron DeSantis, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), South Florida Water Management District and the Fish & Wildlife Foundation of Florida host the Florida Python ChallengeĀ® to continue raising awareness about invasive species in Florida and their impacts. The annual competition encourages people to get directly involved in Everglades conservation through invasive species removal.
Yet man encroaches on the gators, ignores their natural actions and gets hurt when the gators can be beneficial in controlling the pythons. Don’t mess with mother nature. All that was needed was for the woman to pay attention to what is happening around her and nothing would have happened. And beside, the gator went after the dog originally, not her.

I’d expect about as much. Some people are best ignored.
I mean, seriously, there's certainly more un-cool ways to go.
