Last week, Sports Illustrated parent company The Arena Holdings announced that they were laying off a bunch of people.
And then in a totally unrelated note announced they were hiring everyone's favorite journalist: A.I. Algorithm.
Ross Levinsohn, Chairman and CEO of The Arena Group, said,
While AI will never replace journalism, reporting, or crafting and editing a story, rapidly improving AI technologies can create enterprise value for our brands and partners. By leveraging these proprietary tools, we believe all those who create content on our platform will find opportunities to reach consumers in new ways.
I'm not an expert, but it sure seems to me that they're replacing some journalists, reporters, and editors with AI.
I'm also no AI algorithm, and you can tell because I'm couching these claims in uncertainty. If I were a more confident journalist like AI, I'd make up a source to back up my claims.
I can't wait to see the mockery when a sports-reporting AI publishes an article with the wrong stats for something important like the NBA playoffs.
Then the bots will have to throw down with our sports reporter Hamilton Porter.
SI, we hardly knew ye.
Before going woke, SI used to regularly have great articles written by great writers, back in the day.
Well, there goes sports writing; it used to often be fun, inventive and interesting.
AI won’t put trannies and obese bikini models on the cover if it is intelligent.
The more journolists out of work the better. SI was as woke as any of the lamestream news outlets.
Time for them all to revel in the world they toiled to create.
Now I’ll just need AI to ghost read it.
It can’t be too hard to program the “AI” to make sure each sentence in the article has words like “oppression”, “adversity”, and “overcome” if the athlete is black.
Is AI the one who suggested tranny swimsuit issues?
The jump the shark moment was years ago when they did the obligatory lets splash trannies in a heterosexual man’s magazine move.
“Well, there goes sports writing; it used to often be fun, inventive and interesting.”
In the last 20 years it has gone woke.
I’m remembering newspapers. But I probably haven’t read them in 20 years anyway.
Why not, they already went to AI. models and photographers!!
I haven’t read newspapers in a long time either. The on-line authors seem like they have a quota to make at least one dig at conservatives in every article.
Well, they’ve been having AI-imagined swimsuit models, lately, so why not?
The hilarious thing about this is that “journalists” are next. They made themselves expendable by chasing away over 50% of their audience and the news outlets can’t afford to keep them.
In steps Mr./Mrs./Ze/Zer/They/Them AI.
Don’t get excited, though. Mr./Mrs./Ze/Zer/They/Them AI will be programed to spout the leftist line, but now it won’t need multiple extravagant salaries to do so...
Who gives a rat's A$$!
Never read it before... won't be reading their crap anytime in the future.
