The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.
If you have specific question about a plant/problem you are having, please remember to state the Growing Zone where you are located.
This thread is a non-political respite. No matter what, you won’t be flamed, and the only dumb question is the one that isn’t asked.
It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table Recipes, Preserving, Good Living - there is no telling where it will go - and that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us! Send a Private Message to Diana in Wisconsin if you'd like to be added to our New & Improved Ping List.
NOTE: This is a once a week Ping List. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest to Gardeners are welcomed any time!
Yes, that was one of the Spring Puppies that year, 'helping' Beau with bed construction.
I’m looking for a high producing cucumber seeds.
Yeah here in west Michigan no one is out and about. All we have seen going up our road is one trash truck. Even the birds are sliding around on the patio. I have a 9am appointment tomorrow and when I called to reschedule I found out I could go virtual. My first one.
How will you be using said Cucumbers? Fresh eating or pickling or both?
We have satellite internet and anything ‘virtual’ is a PITA for us. During Covid I did a few Zoom Happy Hours with girlfriends, and my connection was so slow that I couldn’t get anything said and they were always talking over me, or just sitting there, waiting for me to talk, LOL!
I hope yours goes well. It is ‘The Wave of the Future’ that none of us every have to see anyone else ever again in person.

Having lived in a couple of places with calm winds most of the time, I could easily wish for less wind/gusts than MO wind.
Both, but mostly pickles. My wife makes “Killer” bread and butter pickles that are popular with the our children and friends.
LOL! Not at my house but scary, nonetheless!
Cucumbers I have grown and loved:
From Seed Savers, for pickling:
‘Bushy’
‘Early Fortune’
‘Snow’s Fancy Pickling’
From Jung’s for eating fresh:
‘Summer Dance’
‘Sweeter Yet’
‘Diva’
And don’t forget the ‘Diana’ Dill (also from Jung’s!) No, it wasn’t named after me. ;)
Thanks! :)
I LOVE IT! Thanks! :)
