I’m sending this out not only to my ping list, but a few others as well, because
Darlin and I are soliciting information and thoughts.
We noted the meme Melian posted with the covid test kit to which Steve van Doorn replied.
Darlin and I just yesterday received an unsolicited package from Cipher labs in Batavia Illinois.
We have not opened it.
On the shipping label at bottom it says:
FREE RAPID ANTIGEN TEST KITS
Order No. CG16476
TO OPT OUT, PLEASE CALL (773) 823-0530
We are now in a quandary as to what, if anything we should do about this.
We looked up the lab....they seem to be legit and are a govt connected lab producing these things.
We would like thoughts from our FReeQ Friends as to implications on the various outcomes of the different options before us.
1. Just keep them and do nothing.
One implication is that we get a pile of test kits which are expensive and not going to be used. We have not opened them so don’t know if they are like the pregnancy test thing in the meme, so therefore they would not be expected back for analysis. If not expected back, then they are not tracking us. If expected back for analysis, then yes, they are tracking.
We are hesitating to open them because we don’t know if/ when we opt out, do they want them back.
2. Call the number and opt out.
That seemingly would stop the pile of kits from growing. However, one concern we do have is that by opting out, it provides a data point for the lab to turn over to the government that here is a household that is “not with the program.” So the Texokies get put on another list.
At first I had thought to call our state of Oklahoma Attorney General’s office thinking it was a scam....but since they are legit, I see it is a scam, but a scam under color of government action. Government is paying the labs. Calling Attorney General might not be an option. But maybe it is. Would really like some insight on this one!
Thank you for any thoughts you might have on this matter.
Treat it like any other unsolicited junk mail. Throw it away.
Hi Texokie! Regarding your test kit, I’d just toss it. Unsolicited junk mail is just that, junk. You’re under no obligation to do anything.
Do not opt out.
Do not pass go.
Do enjoy this wonderful life!
Toss it. Unopened. No phone call.
If the package was unsolicited and you did not sign for it, you have no responsibility; they cannot even prove that you received the package.
Same as other unwanted pests...
Shoot, Shovel, Shut-up
I say do nothing. File them in the bottom of your closet. The big pharma industry is probably too busy to label or investigate you unless you call attention to yourself.
“Return to sender.
Wrong address”
getting off the radar
Batavia, that's where I live!
Maps is showing a Winfield address but
it's only a 20 minute drive from here
Worth a drive by... me thinks.

Let them assume you have moved or something. Make them work hard to "surveil" you.
The last thing "they" want to do, is to look out for your best interest.
Toss any that arrive. Ignore everything else about them. If you need them, buy your own at the grocery.
If it came through the mail and was not opened you could send back refused.
To our beloved FReeQs,
THANK YOU so much for your well thought out comments and ideas about what to do about the unsolicited covid tests we received a few days ago.
We haven’t decided, yet fully on what to do, but we feel fortified with having heard your perspectives and reasoning.
THANK YOU AGAIN!!
