Disney can’t simply decide to move the enterprise to another state. This is funny.
Disney in the sixties negotiated the sweetest deal ever with the state - they were able to create a closed-loop system; Disney was self-governing in Florida. Yes, they had services like fire and police but they paid for them. In addition, they had authority to build an airport, a nuclear power plant, eminent domain, just about anything they could think of at the time.
Disney got so big and arrogant they decided last year to publicly threaten the Governor and legislature. That might have ended well for Disney elsewhere but not in Florida while DeSantis is governor.
Going forward, Governor appointed commissioners will study Disney's request for building permits to re-plumb bathhouses and unisex bathrooms.
Those permits may take awhile.

I remember when the Orlando area before DW when it was a beautiful sleepy little town full of orange groves.
Saw a documentary once that chronicled everything that lead up to DW coming to Florida........every city leader interviewed including the mayor stated if they knew then what they know now they wouldn’t have even entertained the idea of bring that monstrosity here.

Instead of stamping our feet about Disney not paying 'their fair share' maybe we should prosecute them for their grooming activities and take everything from them. This sounds more like the 8th Day Wonder taking a knee to his masters.
Whenever politicians decide a corporation must pay ….. consumers instead pay. In the case of disney perhaps the woke paying more for goods and services at disney maybe will open some eyes and ears ……

If a legal case could be made I would be all for it. Unfortunately, I don’t think that’s the case. The best way to hurt them is the proverbial pocket book, but there appears to be many, many people who either don’t care or are oblivious.

Yes, but they did “carve out special advantages for one amusement park”, and as far as I know, it was not a problem until Disney pissed off the wrong government. If they had revoked the special privileges because they were unfair, that’s great. But now it is simply the government going after a company they don’t like. That’s wrong.

Yes, they did; for Disney. At one time Disney was considered wholesome and was a trusted name. Legislators were eager to be photographed with the plastic rat.

I don’t know if you guys are reading the whole thread or not, but I AM NOT defending Disney. I am saying that punishing a company for political reasons is wrong, no matter which side does it. That’s all I’m saying. Disney should be boycotted out of existence, and I would love to see it, but until they do something illegal the GOVERNMENT should leave them alone.
Why shouldn’t Disney pay taxes like any other company? I never liked the idea of giving companies tax breaks, it’s the government actively choosing the winners and losers.
