Monthly Create, Make and Share Thread - February, 2023 (Formerly, 'Fiber Arts')

“Write it. Shoot it. Publish it. Crochet it, Sauté it, whatever. MAKE.” ~ Joss Whedon

The Monthly Create, Make and Share Thread is a monthly gathering of people that love to create and make. From yarn (crochet, knitting), fabric (sewing, quilting), threads (embroidery, weaving), wood crafts, ceramics, artwork and anything else you create and would like to share, this is the place to do it. Sharing something you’ve created and/or made is pure joy...and we need joy in our lives!

From complete Newbies that are looking to start that first project, to experienced artists, we would love to hear from you. If you have questions or would like advice, there’s probably someone on the thread who would be able to help.

It is impossible to hijack the Monthly Create, Make and Share Thread. Knitting, crochet, sewing, quilting, weaving, general crafting, art, wood working, patterns, articles on any of these topics, or even your own writing. There is no telling where it will go, and that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us! Send a Private Message to Diana in Wisconsin if you’d like to be added to our Ping List.

NOTE: This is a once a Month Ping List. We DO post to the thread during the month. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest to other Create, Make and Share fans are welcomed any time.

This is actually the February, 2023 post. I’ve asked the Mods to fix the thread title for me.

Sorry! Carry on! :)

Well, I can’t seem to get the picture posting technique down. Old age, I guess.

No, this thread isn’t becoming ‘Arts and Crafts 101’ but with Valentine’s Day right around the corner, I thought some of these DIY ideas were cute.

I like anything Mason jar related, I like garlands and anything floral or wreath-related. :)

Here’s a craft I made a few years ago. I took some small branches that had fallen and attached fabric covered hearts to make it look like Valentines were blooming from a pot. I also attached some silk leaves. The branches are stuck into styrofoam and covered with rocks to weigh the planter down, and moss at the very top. It sure brightens up the front porch when it’s cold and dismal outside. The wreath is also one of my creations. Heart shaped grapevine wreath, embellished with silk flowers and silk eucalyptus leaves.

Time flies.

It’s hard to believe it’s February already.

FWIW, cold as it is here, the sun is nice and warm coming in through the windows.

That turned out nice. I need to make a pioneer type dress for a historical society event this July. Given my tight budget I went to the thrift store and found a cotton dress top for 2.50 and a queen size nice print bedsheet 4.00 and some scalloped white trim .50. That will be a fun project. Also found some nice lighter blue lightweight denim yardage for 5.00 enough to sew a jumper, I’ve been wanting one.
