PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- No one won the Powerball drawing last night, and now the jackpot has risen again.
It's now at $700 million.
In case you missed it, last night's numbers were 31, 43, 58, 59, 66 and a Powerball of 09.
The next drawing is Saturday and maybe someone will win.

“The Lottery, with its weekly pay-out of enormous prizes, was the one public event to which the proles paid serious attention. It was probable that there were some millions of proles for whom the Lottery was the principal if not the only reason for remaining alive. It was their delight, their folly, their anodyne, their intellectual stimulant. Where the Lottery was concerned, even people who could barely read and write seemed capable of intricate calculations and staggering feats of memory. There was a whole tribe of men who made their living simply by selling systems, forecasts, and lucky amulets. Winston had nothing to do with the Lottery, which was managed by the Ministry of Plenty, but he was aware (indeed everyone in the party was aware) that the prizes were largely imaginary. Only small sums were actually paid out, the winners of the big prizes being nonexistent persons.”
― George Orwell, 1984
You can buy a “multiplier” for a dollar more. It multiplies lower tier winnings.
In my case that would mean losing $3 instead of $2.
I won $4 on last nights draw. My wife asked me how much I spent. I said $2. Then she asked…”Every week?”
I changed the subject.
(My $6/week guilty pleasure.)
Haha...
I do way better on instant games, payouts are far smaller, but since I never get a payout on the draw games, the instant games are bound to be better. :^)
I wouldn’t want the complications of suddenly becoming super rich. But, to each his own...
Algorithm not selecting numbers on tickets sold state makes millions on sales ups prize money and taxes?.
Moe wonders ??
Knowing the complications of just being alive, irrespective of financial state, I'd be willing to take that risk.
You’d have to rearrange everything about your life. All sorts of people would come out of the woodwork to scam you, distant cousins you’d never heard from would get in touch; resentments could grow between you and friends/relatives you have been close to who expect you to share it all. You’d be a possible kidnap/ransom target, have to worry about financial managers or accountants trying to steal from you; and you’d probably get audited routinely.
I guess I’m old, but I don’t need all of that. A million would be nice; but except for the ability to contribute to some worthy charities, hundreds of millions would be a burdensome mess.
Starbucks will NEVER give me money.....Maybe a ticket will repay....never know.
Then there’s the fact that reduced the starting prize to 20 million from 30 million.🙄
Sorry I meant from 40 million.
It sounds like a nice change.
