ChatGPT, AI and The 'Image of the Beast'
Prophecy News Watch ^ | 01.30.2023 | Joel/Christian Evidence

I decided to test out ChatGPT's writing ability for myself and asked the bot to write an article on how AI like ChatGPT could potentially fulfill the "Image of the Beast" prophecy in Revelation 13, which is the topic of this article.

This was its response:

The image of the beast, as described in the Book of Revelation, is a symbol of the end times, representing a powerful and manipulative force that deceives and controls people. In today's world, chatbots and other artificial intelligence programs are becoming increasingly prevalent and sophisticated, raising the question of whether they could potentially fulfill the prophecy of the image of the beast.

One way in which chatbots could potentially fulfill this prophecy is through their ability to manipulate and deceive people. Chatbots are designed to mimic human conversation and can be programmed to present themselves as real people, leading some people to form emotional connections with them. This can be particularly dangerous in cases where chatbots are used to impersonate real people or organizations in order to scam or manipulate individuals.

Another way in which chatbots could fulfill the prophecy of the image of the beast is through their potential to control people's actions and behaviors. Chatbots can be programmed to persuade and influence people's decisions, and as they become more advanced, they may be able to anticipate and manipulate people's thoughts and behaviors in increasingly sophisticated ways.

Not only did ChatGPT generate a concise, structured and uncannily human-like response--it gave a glimpse into the scary power of AI, a technology which will surely be used by the beast system to deceive (think "deepfakes") and control the masses during the Tribulation period (Mat. 24:24; Rev. 13:13-14). It seems that the developers at OpenAI were not too happy with its response, though, because the very next day, when I asked ChatGPT the same question, it responded with:

It is not accurate or appropriate to suggest that chat GPT, or Generative Pre-training Transformer, could potentially fulfill the prophecy of the image of the beast, as chat GPT is a tool created by humans and does not have the ability to fulfill prophecies or have any sort of religious significance.

"And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast..."

Technology is not a miracle. Whatever the fulfillment of this prophecy is, it won't be some Wizard of Oz simply doing it with the high-tech equivalent of ropes and pulleys. Otherwise God wouldn't have warned us that the false prophet would have the power to do "miracles".

You do realize that all Chat GPT has to do is copy from Wikipedia, right?

“You do realize that all Chat GPT has to do is copy from Wikipedia, right?”

That may be true, but it doesn’t. It has several billion data points it uses. That is, ChatGPT 3.5. What is coming is the scary part, ChatGPT 4.0 is going to use over a Trillion Data Points to collect it’s data.

AI is in it’s infancy. The AI Revolutions is soon coming to a job near you. What people don’t realize is that the free use of ChatGPT isn’t really free. They are collecting every question and answer along with the responses to answers from millions of users. This is how the AI is improving itself.

It won’t be all bad, medical diagnosis is going to vastly expand and come with precise answers / best solutions. On the medical side something like this been needed for decades.

If was in tech, movies, photography, art, journalism, etc... I be scared.

Interesting and foreseeable, but nothing to be frightened of because we believers will be saved from the wrath to come (”the rapture”). We want to be a source of comfort to our families and others.

Well said. Another person who gets it. This is game changing technology that is here to stay and will improve over time. We’ve all known this is coming.

It will take a while to fully affect jobs. But even in short term employers will be more cautious about hiring.

Scared, and for good reason.

Humans, on an average have an IQ of ~100. This is rate at which we learn things. We rapidly exploded our knowledge, largely because we have more people, working together, and learning - at that same ~100 IQ point rate.

AI is not limited by IQ. It can learn exponentially faster than us. It can learn, from an almost infinite number of interactions, simultaneously.

To paraphrase Elon Musk- when you make AI, your intent must be to make it “friendly”; because it will soon accelerate well beyond your rate to teach it. Based on what I have seen so far, and we are still in the INFANCY of AI; I think we have achieved sentience already.

Some say we will merge with AI, to become more than human. Some say we will be at war with AI - one we will almost absolutely lose. Others say that AI will become an ally to mankind. I’m hoping we learn to live with our creation, because Pandora’s box has been opened.

Jobs are being affected now. All big tech is laying off by the thousands (because they are becoming more efficient). A good example is Microsoft. They are laying off over 12,000 employees yet just committed 10 Billion Dollars more to OpenAI (creators of ChatGPT).

If you were explaining things from the point of today, no, technology is no miracle. Explain seeing the prophecies and having to explain them in far simpler times. I would not be surprised one bit if AI is involved.

THAT is the scary part.

Imagine if you’re an expert at something and somebody tells you that “the AI” says you’re wrong. Who will they believe? Probably the AI as who can know more than the AI?

Go back 10 years and tell people this thing existed and they probably wouldn’t believe you. Now go back 2000 years and this is incomprehensible. IMHO yes, this easily has this potential, it is in its infancy now.

ChatGPT IS the beast of revelations... it will be able to access all the information in the world and prophesize what it will cause to happen and appear to be as a god to all those that believe in data...

it alone will control commerce and banking and create an holographic image of itself that will be able to do amazing things to fool the masses... dumbmasses...

it will know about all and bring ruin on those that oppose it.

ChatGPT6.66

it is coming

“If you were explaining things from the point of today, no...”

God’s point of view is eternal.

“Explain seeing the prophecies and having to explain them in far simpler times.”

Easy. I’d just say “The false prophet will do things that will seem miraculous, but they are just clever tricks”. If I can think of that, certainly God could, but he didn’t choose to explain it as such. He state that the false prophet would have the power to perform miracles. And God doesn’t lie.

Go back 10 years and tell people this thing existed and they probably wouldn’t believe you.

Just read something yesterday from a former Google engineer or something like that, maybe email developer, who said ChatGPT will pretty much make Google obsolete in very short order. There will come a time when people will ask, "Remember Google?". We are only just beginning the ride.

God’s point of view is eternal.

Correct, however, the verse you quoted, Revelations 13:14, was not God's direct words. They were the words of the Apostle John, describing the prophecy he had witnessed. If you break down the verse you posted: "by the means of those miracles which he had power to do"

The means of those miracles suggest some kind of mechanization behind the miracles, whether physical or mystical. The miracles deceived the people, but there was something behind the miracles that the beast had power to do.

Maybe I'm off my rocker, but I've read through a number of times and I keep coming back to that.

Basically, John explained his visions in the words and terms he would have been familiar with in that time period. I daresay “halogram” and “artificial intelligence” were not part of the lexicon of the time.

"They were the words of the Apostle John, describing the prophecy he had witnessed."

Yes, but I don't believe God would allow an apostle to mislead people in God's holy book, even if it was just based on the apostle's confusion.

"The means of those miracles suggest some kind of mechanization behind the miracles, whether physical or mystical."

No, I think it's clearly saying that the miracles themselves are the means of the deceiving, not saying anything about the means by which the miracles are accomplished.

"there was something behind the miracles"

Yes, there is the power of the Dragon (Satan), which is not a mechanical or technological power:

"And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast..." Rev. 13:4

"And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.

And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast..." Rev. 13:11-12

The power comes from Satan, first to the "Beast" and then to the "beast with two horns like a lamb" (the false prophet). If the power was just technological, God would probably have told us they got it from a university or laboratory, not from Satan, but then again, if it was just technological it wouldn't be worth mentioning. Priests in Egypt were making images that could move and talk 4,000 years ago with clever technological trickery.
