The Memphis Police Department has confirmed that a seventh officer has been disciplined as part of the investigation into the death of Tyre Nichols, coming just hours after the department revealed that a sixth officer was facing discipline for the incident.
The city's fire department also announced Monday evening that two of its EMTs and a lieutenant were terminated following their own internal investigation into the death of Nichols.
Nichols was pulled over on suspicion of reckless driving on Jan. 7. He was seen on police video being brutally beaten by police officers and died three days later in the hospital.
Five officers involved were fired and charged with murder.
On Monday, the department confirmed that a sixth officer, Preston Hemphill, had been "relieved of duty," according to spokesperson Kimberly Elder. Hemphill was hired in 2018. A seventh officer, whom the department did not identify, was also suspended. All seven officers were initially suspended on Jan. 8, police said.

When will the Chief be fired?.................
“When will the Chief be fired?”
You’ve seen the movie Good fellas right?
The old bosses cleaned house to save their own skin......I don’t see much difference here. 😏
I look at the contrast of the Memphis chief’s picture with a uniform on with stripes and decoration that makes him look like a NATO commander and the picture of my local sheriff in plain brown shirt with a badge.
All Vice Lords?
I read she turned in her resignation before the video was released, but it hadn’t yet accepted yet. ???
Riiiiiight. /s
Imagine the conditions in Memphis in a year now that ‘they’ have momentum...
So they finally found some white dudes to fire...
That was my first thought when I saw the white guys, too.
They need one White guy to hang this on so they can say that when 5 Black cops kill someone it was because of "systemic racism".
The prosecutor and the defense lawyers might see if Tyre had a cell phone (or car maker device) that can document his driving.
Apparently one officer believed Tyre attempted to grab his gun:
Or he just made that statement for the camera after the fact — to justify what they had done to the guy.
“ When will the Chief be fired?.................”
More likely the entire police force.
Such as? Did they try and cover up the incident? Otherwise, I'm not sure how the police doing what they did reflects on the EMT's that responded.
And if Hemphill stopped him first (I guess there are two stops - the story is not clear), then the narrative will change and he'll be the party that started the whole thing.
Very plainly, those cops would have been better off jointly firing into the auto on supposedly "flashing a gun" or somesuch, than what transpired, and there isn't a cop alive who doesn't now realize that with absolute finality.
The MSM making a meal out of this makes the rest of us unsafe.
Not to any way excuse the brutality of this event but, it did NOT happen in a vacuum. The media is acting like this was a traffic stop, and the guy got dragged out cause he black and beat to death. That’s NOT what happened here.
This was PERSONAL... I’m hearing that Nichols had been drilling one of the officers ex wives. So there was a personal connection to this issue and that’s the reason why it happened. It wasn’t police brutality, but it was definitely murder under the color of law. And it definitely was not ‘systematic’.
