California’s reparations task force met again on Friday in San Diego with public comment from speakers who urged bold action and for the state to go forward with payments to African Americans as repayment for slavery. After comments by Dr. Shirley Weber, California Secretary of State, one speaker blasted the suggested amount of $223,000 per resident as insufficient.
Reverend Tony Pierce came to the microphone and slammed the idea of limiting the cash payouts to California residents: "There should be no residency requirements for California! We have to encourage our people to come back to California! What better way to encourage our people to come back to California if we have no requirements?"
"How will reparations be paid?" he added. "Immediately!"
After being told that his time is up, Pierce yelled at the audience, "And $200,000 is not enough! $223,000 is not enough!"
In December, one attendee at the task force meeting called for $350,000 per eligible individual.
California resident and Civil Justice Association of California member Marcus Champion called for "direct cash payments, tax-exempt status, free college education, grants for homeownership, business grants, access to low to no business funding and capital." He called for the creation of The Office of American Freedmen Affairs to handle eligibility on reparations.
Speaker Josiah Williams, a member of American Redress Coalition of the California Bay Area, called for a specific targeting of the reparations claims.
"I wanted to add that if there is anyone else who has their own claim, they can definitely write it up, get someone to champion it and I would support them in that effort," he said. "But this is for a specific group of people."

Expanding on what I said a couple posts back, blacks are 6.5% of the California population. The notion that the other 93.5% is going to pony up to pay a sum equal to about double the state annual budget is beyond fantasy

Honestly, is there ANYTHING that can wake up all the people sleeping through this? Would riots or civil war ever happen? We have no "antifa brigade" to call upon and unleash at will to create foment. Middle class people watching the Super Bowl while drinking beer and eating nachos are not going to do it.
Deduct all welfare they have gotten from the time they were born - medicaid, food stamps, SNAP, WIC, free school uniforms, all school fees and school supplies, Section 8 housing, free college, free transportation, free hospitalization and then see how much they owe America back.
Ungrateful.

Why not just give them ALL 10 million or so, with an air-tight legal clause that there IS NO MORE! We know within a year it will nearly all be back in the economy again, and most of the recipients will have OD’d or been killed by jealous homies. The rest will be broke and back on welfare or selling dope on a corner.

Add in the violence, looting, and rioting that has damaged America...I think Americans are owed a lot.
Yeah, I kind of wondered about what they are REALLY trying to do. Allowing these people to gaslight themselves on stratospheric expectations is not good. Maybe they are trying to make them look like greedy idiots. But if you want to foment riots in the streets and even a race war, this is the way to do it.
As illogical as it seems on the face of it, it would not surprise me if that was their desired endgame.
Somebody has serious nostalgia for the 60's. The 1860's. Freedmen were, of course, ex-slaves by definition. Not a single one is alive today.
Oh, and add on nonpayment of state and federal taxes as well as college programs that give them stipends for being in college. I spoke to an AA man who laughed as he talked about his 3 COLLEGE degrees and how he got paid to stay in school and not have to work. All expenses paid - food, housing, transportation and all college/books/computer/fees PAID FOR COMPLIMENTS OF YOU AND ME.
NO - they are instigating violence.
Now they think they will get it but WE are denying them their ‘rightful due’.
