Memphis cops on Friday night released footage showing the events leading up to the death of 29-year-old Tyre Nichols.
Horrific footage showed the moments he was stopped by police, him fleeing, then the vicious beating when they caught up and the lack of medical care.
Five officers involved in the January 7 incident have been charged with second-degree murder, and fired from the force.
CJ Davis, the well-respected Memphis police chief, said she had never witnessed anything so devastating in her policing career.
Meanwhile Benjamin Crump, an attorney representing the Nichols family, said Nichols was treated like 'a human piñata'.
The four clips - three from body cameras, one from a surveillance camera attached to a post - have shocked and angered America.
Here DailyMail.com breaks down the footage from start to finish - from the moment he was pulled over to him slumped next to a cop cruiser as EMTs watched on.
At 8:20pm on January 7, Nichols, who was born in Sacramento and moved to Memphis in February 2020, was driving home from a suburban park, where he had taken photos of the sunset.
He was driving along East Raines Road in south eastern Memphis when he encountered the police. One officer said he was 'cutting through traffic'.
'So we just try to get him to stop. He don't stop,' an officer told his colleagues, in the body camera footage. 'Hit the siren. Stop stop stop.
'Then he drove around, swerved like he gonna hit my car. 'So then I'm like - *******.
'He pull up to the red light. Stop at the red light. He put his turning signal on. 'So we jump out the car. '**** went from there.'

Those officers are going to be Dahmerized in prison.
Police rehearse their stories, so they are all telling the same one.
Video does no lie.
also these cops curse like sailors and that is an insult to sailors!
I would have drug-tested these cops at the end of the shift. Too much energy expended...they were ‘lit-up’ on something.
A big long headline that is designed to start riots. Let me fix it:
“How Tyre Nichols was beaten to death By five black Cops in FIVE MINUTES: Sickening footage shows 29-year-old being pulled over, escaping then being punched, kicked and tazed - as one officer shouts: ‘I’m going to baton the **** out of you’”
Every single person on the scene of that incident, at whatever time, cop, EMT, whoever, also needs to be charged with being complicit in his murder.
Send the whole lot of them to prison and let it be sorted out there, since the death penalty is no longer an option.
I didn’t even watch the video. Couldn’t. Just reading the story was bad enough.
I feel for the decent LEO on the force, as I am sure there are some, but the rest have what’s coming. I only hope God protects the honorable ones.
Here is a perspective. The only reason this is a big deal is because it was caught on video. It begs the question... How many times does it happened and there is no video?
In one of the body cams I saw one of the officers was out of breath after beating him up.
They were pepper spraying each other. One officer says “you got it on me!!!”
They did not pursue him that long so I’m wondering why the dog pile on him? Why did they pull him out of the car like that?
I asked earlier if they lost their damn minds and sounds like they did. You may be correct they were on something or a lot of things
The fix is in when for when these guys get Dahmerized in prison. Never mind the riots.
I'm not saying there is an applicable backstory and, of course, nothing justifies the beating death of a person, but it seems that tensions have been rising dramatically between the police and the anti-police (including Antifa) in places like Memphis and Atlanta.
It was tough when he started calling out for his mom.☹️
God only knows how his mom, hearing the cries for her from her being murdered son could survive that?
In this day and age that is getting few and far between. Every time there is an arrest people pull out their cell phones and press record.
Even with that? Police body cams still record the popo doing stupid shit. Amazing is it not these officers forgot they were wearing cams?
There is still video missing. I want to see the dash cam video. I want to see how long it took to get him to stop. The article says it didn’t take long and he was driving funny but again video does not lie, lets see what all the cops’ dash cams recorded.
Imagine what would have happened if he complied the very start?
All the MFer had to do was stop resisting. He disobeyed every command for the entire time. Didn’t his momma give him “the talk?” Or was he just really really dumb?
Even with body cams there have been incidents where they had conveniently turned them off for some reason, or it “malfunctioned” at the right time. Or it happens in a rural location with no public around. And many departments still do no require body cams.
I think it happens a lot more than we know now days.
So smack him and disorient him so that he has absolutely no clue what is happening and then beat the hell out of him for not obeying commands while disoriented?
The guy was in flight for survival mode...
Right, wrong, or indifferent, this guy
resisted arrest even though he may have
been innocent. Such resistance will
be met with what ever force required
to neutralize the situation by the cops.
I’m certainly not condoning the police
efforts to bring this citation under
control.
Being a cop is a thankless job,
especially during present political
atnosphere.
This guy’s name came up on the police
computers for a reason. He broke the law.
He wasn’t some poor dude just
driving down the street, minding
his own business.
Welcome to Memphis 2023: Where when Memphis cops aren’t pulling trains on each other, they’re committing gang style murder.
Just leave whitey, honkies and Caucasians out of this. BTW these five police were on the Scorpion squad that got 500 criminals off the Memphis streets. Memphis is a rough place.
