The Memphis Police Department has released harrowing bodycam footage of five police officers fatally beating Tyre Nichols following a traffic stop for purported reckless driving.
The video released on Friday night shows Nichols, 29, crying out for his mother multiple times during the brutal January 7 assault, which took place just a few blocks from his home.
'Mom! Mom!' screams Nichols as he is pinned to the ground by multiple officers, pepper sprayed in the face, kicked and punched in the head, and struck with a metal baton.
The video shows police rained at least nine blows down on the FedEx worker while screaming profanities throughout the nearly four-minute altercation.
Even after paramedics arrived, a handcuffed Nichols remained slumped over on the pavement for nearly half an hour without significant medical intervention.
All five officers involved in the killing were charged with second-degree murder, with the district attorney saying that though they all played different roles, 'they are all responsible.'
Still, police across the nation were bracing for potential violent unrest as protesters gathered to voice outrage in response to the graphic and highly disturbing footage.

If the police station in Memphis burns tonight I will not piss on it to put it out.
I would like to see the protests with the police force carrying signs saying “ We are with you on this one!” That would help the community greatly.
Ive had career cops in the family.
They know all too well that cops are not your friends. They made sure we all knew that.
If I were a cop in a big city, I’d be looking for an exit.
Number 1 rule with cops on the street. DO NOT FIGHT WITH THEM. You will lose on the street. Maybe win in court. Complying means not dying. No doubt the acted horrifically.

If you watch all four videos, the first beat down occurred at the point of the stop. The second beat down occurred after a chase and involved the baton, kicks and punches while the perp was on the ground. There was also gross negligence on the part of all of the cops after the second beat down as they failed to properly monitor the perp’s condition - he was in custody. The EMT didn’t show up for around 25 minutes after the second beat down.
I would vote to convict those of the first beat down with second degree and those of the second beat down with first degree. One of the cops at the first beat down said that the perp should get a beating.

I thought I was 7 in DM’s video and one of their still images. Like I said that is why I always post DM they have the best images around Look on their site you see it.
My friend complied almost a year ago. He went nicely and didn’t fight. He’s still locked up with no bail and no rights in Alberta and it’s nothing but a political game. They haven’t even scheduled court til this summer.
I spent 37 years driving every workday in city of Chicago. I was stopped at least 50 times by Chicago cops. Mainly because my car did not display City sticker but also traffic violation stops. I did not need that sticker because I lived outside city limits. But I always used polite behavior and no cop, black or white ever assaulted me. If I did not like the traffic ticket the cop gave me, I still kept my cool. The place to argue is in traffic court where the boss is the judge.
