Some Pink Floyd fans are up in arms about the rainbow colors that have accompanied the band's classic Dark Side of the Moon album artwork for nearly five decades.
The legendary music group announced Thursday that it was releasing a special 50th anniversary edition of what is already one of the best-selling albums of all time. The announcement was made on social media networks including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, featuring an adapted image of the iconic album cover with the prism and rainbow colors.

I had a stepbrother who moved to New York to attend Parsons school of design in the late 70’s. When I overheard my dad and stepmom arguing over the “friend” he brought home from New York one thanksgiving, that’s finally figured out what was going on. I always thought that that choice that meant two less guy to compete for the girls at a party.
One of my cousins who lives in California is gay.
Back when I was a kid (and he was a young adult) my Mom said he was “light in the loafers”.
Not sure if I’ve heard that term anywhere else LOL.
Yep. *Everybody* had that album in the late 70s and early 80s and every party I went to in those days had that one in the music lineup.
Traditional how? The rainbow is made up of various wavelengths that have no set number of colors. You can pick any particular one and call it a color. God gave us 3 and only 3 color receptors which is only an imperfect, very limited way a viewing the real world. Can we see angels and demons with our eyes? No, because our senses are not those of angels and demons.
Another A&M album...
Note the trumpet in the A&M logo
I associate it with my 13th birthday.
Oh in South Carolina and Coastal Georgia, it’s been used about people for ages, Like Light in the Loafers Lindsey.. or that certain cousin or uncle that you weren’t allowed to be alone with.
Didn’t a lot of Democrats politicians, & supporters, support Reverend Jim Jones? 🙂
I call the 6 color f— flag sinbow. It ain’t a rainbow.
Sorry I did it.
My dad had that album...
I used to love music by Pink Floyd. I listened to their work all the time.
Back in 2004, I went to a Roger Waters concert. I was in a large group of 10-15 people, all good friends.
In retrospect, I should have seen what was coming, but...I didn’t. I did’t know much of anything about him other than his music...as normally it used to be for me. With entertainment, it wasn’t as much my business.
But boy, he went out of his way to make it my business.
It turned into a 3 hour political audiovisual tirade against conservatives and Israel, with some music mixed in. It looked like Code Pink put together the slide and video shows they had going on.
I didn’t want to ruin the evening for the people I went with, but I was steaming mad. I grit my teeth and sat there. At the end of the “concert”, they released a 40 foot high ballon of a pig with “F*ck Bush” on one side and “Vote Democrat” on the other.
I have been unable to listen to any Pink Floyd music since then. It STILL pisses me off.
+1
There are people whose lives are so empty, uninteresting and unchallenging that they have nothing to do but create outrage where there is none to be had.
I remember that cover too as a young lad l got a kick out of it of course that was not an eleven your old girl.
Ugh…so you went to hear some good music and got duped into a Democrat political rally instead. 😖 That sounds horrible.
At least with the Pretenders, Chrissie Hynde got her “Meat is murder!” tirade and snarky comment about this being Texas and wondering if we all had guns out of the way at the beginning of the concert and they just played music for the rest of the show. This was around 2000.
It would really take an ignorant moron to see that as ‘woke’, or be upset about it.
Indigo isn’t really a color. It’s just “kinda purple”. A “proper” rainbow is the 3 primary color, plus the 3 half steps, 6
Red
Orange
Yellow
Green
Blue
Violet
Indigo just makes Roy happy.
