I don’t know who’s right or who’s wrong in this situation, but I do know this. Both parties at a table should not leave to go to the restroom at the same time. Someone needs to stay behind so situation like this do not happen.

If the guy were to have left his gal aline at the bar, he’d have left her open to be hit on by other guys. Based on the potential for this kind of skullduggery, it’s not clear that going to the restroom in shifts, as you seem to be suggesting, is ideal, or would have been the right move.

It depends on whether they left partial drinks behind. If the bartender had cleared things, the seat became open.

I wouldn’t know about that. It’s been years and years since I’ve been to a bar where it would be unsafe and unwise to leave a woman alone for two or three minutes.

I just don’t go to dumps like that. But evidently this place was just such a dump where fights break out over empty tables.
