Pope Francis warned Jesus Christ followers not to convince someone to become a Christian, insisting it is a “pagan” activity.
“To evangelize is not to proselytize,” the Pope told crowds gathered in the Vatican for his weekly general audience.
“To proselytize is something pagan; it is neither religious nor evangelical,” the Pope said.

The Curia would have to invoke Article 332 of Canon Law. The votes aren’t there.
Simply recall when Christ was crucified and alive on the cross with two criminals. That single moment with Dysmas defined it for all of us, and for all time!!
“To evangelize is not to proselytize,” the Pope told crowds gathered in the Vatican for his weekly general audience. “To proselytize is something pagan; it is neither religious nor evangelical,” the Pope said. “This is not about proselytism, as I said, so that others become ‘one of us’ – no, this is not Christian,” he reiterated. “It is about loving so that they might be happy children of God,” he added. Proselytizing, according to the Cambridge Dictionary, means to try to persuade someone to change their religious or political beliefs or way of living to your own.” Proselytism differs from evangelization, the Pope said, which is the joyful witness of one’s experience of Christ.
“You know your contemporaries, you know that many are alone, that many do not know Jesus,” Francis told young people gathered for a national Catholic youth conference in 2019. “Go, go and bring the Lord, go and fill your environments, even the digital, but not of convictions, not to convince, not to proselytize, but to witness to the tenderness and mercy of Jesus,” the Pope added. The Pope then told a group of Christian high school students the following month that they should respect people of other faiths, insisting, “we are not living in the times of the crusades.” When one of the students asked how a Christian should treat people of other faiths, the Pontiff said, “we are all the same, all children of God,” and that true disciples of Jesus do not proselytize. “It never occurred to me (and nor should it) to say to a boy or a girl: ‘You are Jewish, you are Muslim: come, be converted!’ You be consistent with your faith, and that consistency is what will make you mature
The “First POPE” Cephas, felt differently about it.
Galatians 2:9
King James Bible
And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.
Heathen=Pagans.
Yes!
“Truly I say to you, you will be with me in Paradise.”

Even so, distinctive Catholic teachings are not manifest in the only wholly inspired substantive authoritative record of what the NT church believed (which is Scripture, in particular Acts through Revelation, which best shows how the NT church understood the gospels). Which includes its gospel. Rendering the RCC a false church with some true teachings. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord." (Acts 3:19) May God grant all “repentance to the acknowledging of the truth.” (2 Timothy 2:25)
He was elected by the College of Cardinals.
How can he be a poser? The members of the college knew exactly who he was and is.
I get it, sort of but I believe the Pope could have explained it a whole lot better. This Pope talks like he is always talking to people that are educated in all Church policies and languages and not to us, the common folk.

Catechesis. The passion for evangelization: The apostolic zeal of the believer. 2. Jesus, model of evangelization - https://www.vatican.va/content/francesco/en/audiences/2023/documents/20230118-udienza-generale.htmlAnd with context (not that I want to justify Bergo):
`We have heard the parable of the lost sheep found in chapter 15 of the Gospel of Luke (cf. vv. 4-7). Jesus speaks about the lost coin as well as about the prodigal son there. If we want to train our apostolic zeal, we should always have chapter 15 of Luke before our eyes. Read it often. We can understand there what apostolic zeal is. There we discover that God does not remain contemplating the sheep pen, nor does he threaten them so they won’t leave. Rather, if one leaves and gets lost, he does not abandon that sheep, but goes in search of it. He does not say, “You got up and left – it’s your fault – that’s your business!”...
And I wonder – we, do we have similar sentiments? Perhaps we see those who have left the flock as adversaries or enemies. “And this person? Hasn’t he gone to the other side? She lost her faith…. They are going to hell…” and we are serene. When we meet them at school, at work, on the streets of our city, why don’t we think instead that we have a beautiful opportunity to witness to them the joy of a Father who loves them and has never forgotten them? Not to proselytize, no! But that the Word of the Father might reach them so we can walk together. To evangelize is not to proselytize. To proselytize is something pagan, it is neither religious nor evangelical. There is a good word for those who have left the flock and we have the honour and the burden of being the ones to speak that word.
Yet, while God does indeed go after lost sheep - and Rome manifestly treats even proabortion, prohomosexual public figures as members in life and in death (showing the Vatican's understanding of canon law) - yet the Spirit many time warns believers, as believers, against developing an "evil heart of unbelief in departing from living God," from the faith they once held, falling from grace, making Christ of no effect, to no profit, drawing back to perdition," yielding to pressure to deny the faith after conversion so that Paul's labor would be in vain, (25. Gal. 5:1-5; Heb. 3:12014; 10:25-31, 38-39; 1 Thessalonians 3:5)
My pleasure 👍
This pope is a tool of Satan.
Guess that passage about go into all the nations and make disciples and baptize them doesn’t apply any longer.
Geesh....he’s a CATHOLIC poser!
There wouldn’t be any Catholics in Mexico or central America without doing so. This man is bizarre.
Time to recall the pope.
You’ll have to ask the Curia to invoke Article 332 of Canon Law. I don’t think the votes are there to remove him.
This Pope and all of his handlers are of Satan.
Jesus commands us to Preach His Gospel.
Of course he's not a Christian, he's a catholic.
I guess he never read John3 where Jesus told Nicodemus that he must be born again.
'When I tell you what imagery found in Scripture REALLY means,' the magnificant Humpty Dumpty said, in a rather superior tone, ' it means just whomever I choose it to mean, neither more nor less; but sometimes two or more different things at once.' 'The question is,' said Alice, 'whether you can define imagery to mean so many different things.' 'The question is,' said Humpty Dumpty, C.SS.R, S.S.L., O.F.M, S.T.D 'which is to be master - that's all.' |
