Mammoth Mountain Closes Because Of Too Much Snow. ( California )
USSA News ^ | January 12, 2023 | Constitutional Nobody

Posted on 01/12/2023 12:05:49 PM PST by george76

Global warming’ alarmist spewed nothing but climate doom last summer about how the world would imminently burn if no ‘government’ actions were taken. The folks operating Mammoth Mountain in the Eastern Sierra might be perplexed about that assumption considering they’ve had to shutter operations this week because of too much snow.

A moisture conveyor belt of atmospheric rivers for nearly three weeks has pounded lower elevations of Commie California with record amounts of rain. As for higher elevations, such as the area where Mammoth is located, feet of snow buried the region.

...

“Due to continued intense snowfall, very difficult road conditions, and extensive avalanche mitigation work, Main Lodge will be closed tomorrow,” Mammoth posted on Facebook earlier this week.

Another update said that even more snow had paralyzed the resort from conducting full operations.

...

Yesterday, Mammoth said the “mega-storm” dumped “6 to 7.5 FEET of snow in the last few days.” It indicated only a partial reopening of the mountain and to “expect delays in all lift openings.”

Last night, Mammoth posted a video showing how badly the mountain got hit. Some lifts still appear to be inoperable.

Last year, Mammoth received about 223 inches of snowfall during winter. So far this season, 328 inches have fallen, surpassing last year’s total by more than 100 inches with still a few months left in the season.

I’ve skied Mammoth dozens of times. I’m pretty sure the lifts are more than 10 feet above the ground. Maybe the loading/unloading areas are the problem but that’s what snow plows are for.

So far this season, 328 inches have fallen,

divide 328 by 12. You get 27.3 ft. deep snow.

I got snowed in on Mammoth in the late 70s. The only time I was AWOL in the Marines (they excused it). Great skiing and beautiful area. To bad it is part of California.

Wait a doggone minute. This cannot be happening. "Global Warming" is in progress. There is supposed to be dust and tumbleweed flying around everywhere.

I want my dust and tumbleweed.

Global warming causes floods, droughts, or lack thereof

Let’s not forget wildfires, earthquakes and volcanoes.

Right. Lifts get buried, avalanche dangers everywhere, poor road conditions, etc. It will take a week or so to dig out.

Mammoth is a huge resort, 3500 acres. Lots of runs to clear and groom (see - they F’ed that word up too). Caters to the LA crowd.

In the winter of 83 I was skiing at Squaw and the Headwall chair was running in a trench cut by the cats. Early season that point would have been close to 100 feet off the ground. Snow drifts.

All weather you don’t like is caused by global warming. Weather that you do like is either unimportant or anecdotal, or also caused by global warming.

“atmospheric rivers” and “bomb cyclones”. I give the fear pornveyers credit for never lacking original doom labels.

It’s been decades since I skied at Mammoth, but I thought the lifts were on pipes that could be raised or lowered.
