The FBI revealed how the bureau uses the CIA and National Security Agency to probe the private lives of Americans without a warrant in its updated rulebook, which is the first version made public since the Obama administration.
The handbook, rewritten in 2021, confirms a decade-old leak showcasing the bureau’s collaboration with the CIA and NSA for FBI probes that may involve surveillance without court orders against people not accused of any crimes. Such probes are known as “assessments” at the FBI.
The revelations will fuel critics who have long accused the FBI of abusing its national security surveillance powers.

Worth clicking through for the dirty details.
they are committing treason against the Constitution, specifically 4A, and should be held accountable.
Violation of everything. Did anyone really think the NSA would build $500 Billion dollar data collection facilities and not use them as a weapon against us?
The writer makes it look like this entire program was put in place by Trump.
I’m not a lawyer, but I think that’s illegal…
There has never been a more pervasive domestic spying operation in all of human history. This is not what our founders intended.
Simple really. Reduce the budgets of the FBI / NSA / CIA by 10% each month they are violating the US Constitution with such activities. The authorizing architects involved among all federal agencies and legislature should be doing jail time. I do believe the guy who surveiled Nancy Pelosis laptop data is in prison right now?
I’m slowly going from wanting the FBI shuttered to sending all FBI employees to prison for the rest of their lives. Let them rot in the DC Gulag.
I’m not surprised. We Americans once had a fond illusion - that our government was squeaky clean, without a trace of corruption, that followed and respected the Constitution, that never violated individual rights guaranteed by the Constitution.
I lost that illusion quite some time ago.
Nothing is private, the government knows everything.
With great power, comes great responsibility.
The problem is not simply the personal vendettas of the politicians being pursued against everyday citizens, but in setting such an abysmally bad example, lower level people in the bureaucracy may feel empowered, if not duty-bound, to pursue their own vendettas utilizing the same set of ideological criteria since there is precedent for doing so.
“The FBI assessments are investigations of people and groups that do not require accusations of wrongdoing and need only an “authorized purpose” and a clear objective, according to the 2021 rule book. The investigations are intended to prevent federal crimes,...”
Shocked !!!
Believe it or not, it is a crime for the U.S. Government to RANDOMLY spy on We the People. It’s time to start locking some of these Feddy pimps up.
Welcome to the USSA....COMrades!
How is that Patriot Act workin out for you America?
I remember once there was a woman who worked for the NSA who was attempting to force me into a relationship with this completely nuts guy from Africa. At the time I was thinking that she had to have trying to get him some sort of legal status or something, but hey, I’m an optimist, in truth there is no telling what was going on with the woman. I repeatedly refused and at that point she started trying to figure out my last name and address. I have no idea what she had in mind, only where she worked. The experience did not give me the comfort of feeling my tax dollars were being well spent.
