Prince Harry bitterly believes he was only bred to offer literal spare parts for his brother in case the heir apparent ever needed new organs.
“Two years older than me, Willy was the Heir, whereas I was the Spare,” the exiled prince wrote in explaining the title of his memoir, “Spare,” which was officially released Tuesday.
“I was the shadow, the support, the Plan B. I was brought into the world in case something happened to Willy,” he wrote of his 40-year-old brother and current heir to the throne, William.
He said he understood his role was to be a “diversion” and “distraction” from his brother — or to provide “if necessary, a spare part” to him.
“Kidney, perhaps. Blood transfusion. Speck of bone marrow,” he added in morose detail.
He also noted how his dad, now King Charles III, could never be on a plane with his eldest son, William, “because there must be no chance of the first and second in line to the throne being wiped out.”
“But no one gave a damn whom I traveled with’; the Spare could always be spared,” Harry claimed.
“This was all made explicitly clear to me from the start of life’s journey and regularly reinforced thereafter,” he claimed of his apparent throwaway standing in the family.
Harry complained that the heir and spare clarification “wasn’t merely how the press referred to us,” but was also “the shorthand used by” his royal family, including “Mummy,” the late Princess Diana, “and even Granny,” the since-deceased Queen Elizabeth II.
He says he was aged 20 when he was first told that his dad had greeted his birth by quipping: “Wonderful! Now you’ve given me an Heir and a Spare — my work is done.”

You consider criticizing Harry the same as criticizing Britain?
I think you’d find that the vast majority of Britons are criticizing Harry now, too. (There are even a lot of POCs from independent Commonwealth nations who are livid over his conduct.)
There are always a few people on FR who hate the whole institution of British Royalty, and even a few armchair warriors who seem to want to fight the Revolution all over again every time something about the Crown comes up.
But most of us on THIS THREAD are supporting the Royals AND Britain, because we find Harry’s conduct abhorrent and unworthy. Others of us just find him to be an obnoxious and ungrateful brat with no sense of decorum. I doubt that many Britons would disagree with either.
Prince Harry bred? Was he raised by a dog breeder? Does he know the English translation for the word, “arf?”

Looking back over the thread, I feel I should apologize to you for misunderstanding the full context of your comment. I’m sorry.
But it’s true that there are people here who simply hate the British system on principle, and trying to ‘logic’ with them isn’t usually very useful.
Who would have guessed that his whiney and dumb guy who claims to have killed all those Talibans would became an author and appear on all those shows. I have a hard time believing what he says.

The USA was created to move away from political leadership on the basis of heredity. The fact that we have so much interest in royalty here, and so much de facto creation of political royalty (Kennedys, Clintons, Pelosi/Newsome, etc.) speaks very poorly of us as a citizenry.
