Speculation about who is going to be the next James Bond reemerges every time any young, tallish actor makes an impression in a role that requires wearing a suit.
When Daniel Craig’s long-awaited Bond swansong landed, one of the first things we thought about was who will eventually succeed poor old Craig, who was beginning to look a bit weary by the end.
Now, the great rumour mill has begun to turn again, as producer Michael G Wilson has said that the next actor will be “a thirty-something”.
Speaking at an In Conversation event at London’s British Film Institute, Wilson said: “We’ve tried looking at younger people in the past. But trying to visualize it doesn’t work. Remember, Bond’s already a veteran. He’s had some experience.
“He’s a person who has been through the wars, so to speak. He’s probably been in the SAS or something. He isn’t some kid out of high school that you can bring in and start off. That’s why it works for a thirty-something.”

What about James Bond 0012? He is Bonds grandson from a daughter he never knew he had. Kid is just graduating Cambridge and is recruited into MI6. Here’s the kicker. Kid doesn’t know who is grandfather is in or his legend. That becomes the new franchise, and if you have to you can always add grandpa as a subplot.
They had to throw in women candidates. Why no trans person? (sarcasm)
A lot of the actors on that list look like they should be waiting in the Starbucks line for their vegan soy green tea frappucino. I wouldn’t mind Ewan McGregor or Pedro Pascal.

I think the last Bond film I actually invested time in was Live and let Die.
I’d love to see Henry Cavil play Bond, but his sincerity and nerdy devotion to fantasy IPs and their fanbases probably will disqualify him. He lost out to Craig last time. If I had my way, James Bond films would be period pieces in the 1950’s-1960’s and adhere closely to Ian Fleming’s novels. Bond is a WASP Brit Cold Warrior, not contemporary or subject to modern inane political sensibilities.
Bond nerd sez that would be "Live and Let Die". Best Roger Moore Bond movie IMHO.
If they were to do a Bond flick today, it should be reboot in the '50s to the 60s during the Cold War Era. Unless somebody like Tom Cruise (he did a great job with recent Top Gun movie) Hollywood is going to mess this up. So they should wait 10 years or so until they stop being Woke.
