He did have issues with drugs and alcohol back in the 80’s and 90’s and did a stint at the Betty Ford clinic. So many child actors have gone on to live miserable lives as adults.

The jackassin’ about his death being due to COVID-19 was just that - ignorant speculation at the expense of a person who struggled with substance abuse most of his adult life.
