Rush Limbaugh spent his life advocating for liberty and defending the rights of American citizens. He encouraged his millions of followers to get involved in politics and make their voices heard at the local, state, and national levels.
One of the ways he urged his listeners to get involved was by joining the Article V movement. But those who oppose the Founders' solution to federal overreach have launched a disinformation campaign attacking both Rush and Convention of States Action President Mark Meckler.
In a recent post on social media, Montana State Senator Theresa Manzella claims that Mark lied about Rush's support for our movement.
There's just one problem: we have evidence that proves otherwise. In a recently unearthed conversation with a caller, Rush encouraged the caller to purchase and read Mark Levin's Liberty Amendments, a bestselling book that called for an Article V Convention of States.
"Read it... it's fascinating," Rush said. "Everybody still asks me, 'Rush, what can I do, besides vote?' Everybody wants to do something. Well, look, the standard, ordinary give-and-take and back-and-forth of politics isn't going to work anymore... The Constitution is going to have to be put back together."
"The Founders understood what we are going through today was very possible, and they had a prescription to fix it," he continued. "There are remedies for this. The remedy is not the Republican party. The American people are going to have to fix this. And that's Levin's book. It's a wonderful book."

Three justices — Sotomayor, Kagan, and Jackson — and maybe the Chief Justice — will vote to rule any amendment the Article V Convention adopts unconstitutional.
Thank you - but one thing these threads prove beyond any shadow of a doubt, is this:
You can point a conservative towards the Constitution, but you can't make them actually read Article V.
;>)
No logic. Just an observation.
However, the CoS is a stupid idea.
Why?
The Constitution doesn't need to be changed, just ENFORCED.
An Article V convention would simply propose amendments, NOT "adopt" them. Any proposed amendment would need to be ratified by 3/4 of the States before it became part of the Constitution - at which point, it would be just as "constitutional" as any other part.
;>)
I think a balanced budget amendment would be a definite improvement - the spendaholics in DC are literally destroying the country...
Plugging the book in 2014 is different from making speeches. I’ve never heard of him making speeches.
I loved and respected Rush, but he was wrong about the Con-Con!
The US Constitution is just fine as it is! IMHO, it is the finest piece of work produced by man, after the Bible and the Declaration of Independence!
It just needs to be heeded by EVERY American!
That's really pretty funny! Do an internet search on "United States Constitution" some time, and take one minute to actually read Article V. The part about any changes to the Constitution needing approval by 3/4 of the States is quite interesting!
:^)
Read the Article V text I posted in comment 25 to where I got that idea. Maybe I’m misreading the loophole I believe allows Congress to make that decision.
I think the whole point of A5 is to let the states go around congress.
So let congress do it? LOL

Yeah, I’m not a reformer, nor do I think the current Constitution needs Amendments.
I think this “talk” is a dream for a political science professor(a leftwinger BTW) but a distraction from getting rid of globalism and cleaning up corruption in the American System.
I said he was just at a Convention of States event in Florida.
October 2022...
There’s only one movement standing up to the destruction of America, and that’s Convention of States, Mark Levin told a packed room of Convention of States activists over the weekend.
We’re losing our country to people who don’t even believe in the Constitution. We’re sliding into the abyss and being attacked from within by those who don’t believe in individual liberty.
The COS Reclaiming Liberty Leadership Summit was held in Orlando Thursday through Sunday and featured some of the nation’s top leaders in the fight against government overreach. With hundreds of COS involved patriots in attendance, the event sold out months ago.
Show host Mark Levin was the featured banquet speaker on Saturday night, and alerted the crowd that the heat and criticism is only going to become greater as the movement becomes closer to calling a convention.
Educate yourself.
I think the whole point of A5 is to let the states go around congress.

True.
Also, the state governments are full of no talent hacks that are almost retarded.
That must be why we don’t have an income tax and we still have slavery. You’re being naive. The amendments BECOME the constitution, and once seated, the con/con can start turning out amendments that do indeed change the Constitution as written.
Congress delegated it’s power to set the value of a dollar with a law...in violation of the constitution. The Tax amendment changed the taxation clause of article 1.
The slavery amendments changed the original as written.
Just last month, they changed the Veep’s role into a ceremonial role rather than an actual role.
Yeah, they can and will change things.
Anyway, they don’t follow the current written rules. Write new ones and the Supremes will get busy interpreting them right out of existence.
As if that makes a difference to liberals.
Maybe. Balanced budget and term limits will never come from congress so the states will have to via A5.

A balance budget means cutting mandatory spending like Social Security and Medicare.
The discretionary spending that just passed was $1.7 trillion and for all the rhetoric about pork, half of it was military or military type spending.
Over $4 trillion of the Federal Budget is mandatory spending that can only be changed by Congress.
Getting Federal receipts and outlays within reason doesn’t take a balanced budget gimmick, it takes a Congress with some intestinal fortitude.
The military is a small part of the budget. The “mandatory” spending is the lions share, and there is plenty to cut.

*******
Agreed, but how do we get the votes to do it?
Mandatory spending takes an Act of Congress to cut, just like it took an Act of Congress to implement.
