DeSantis just keeps posting win, after win, after win.
Immediately following his inauguration to second term as governor of Florida, DeSantis is making HUGE changes to the way the state of Florida is doing business.
In his sights is the mega-woke Disney behemoth.
Disney messed with the wrong governor when they stuck their nose into Florida's business and tried to prevent the state from protecting children from grooming in schools.
A plan was announced Friday to introduce a bill into the Florida Legislature that would replace Walt Disney World's special self-governing power with a state-run board.
(snip)
"The corporate kingdom has come to an end," DeSantis' communications director, Taryn Fenske, told Fox News. "Under the proposed legislation, Disney will no longer control its own government, will live under the same laws as everyone else, will be responsible for their outstanding debts, and will pay their fair share of taxes."
If Disney is going to promote woke politics, oppose good governance, and stick up for groups that endanger children, then DeSantis is going to give them a taste of what it's like to not have special governing privileges.
He's going to teach the mouse a lesson.
The planned legislation will also ensure that the company will pay upwards of $700 million dollars in unsecured debt accumulated by Disney's special jurisdiction — known as the Reedy Creek Improvement District — and not Orange County taxpayers, according to the sources.
Last year, DeSantis signed a measure into law dissolving Walt Disney World's special governing power in the state after the company publicly opposed a new parental rights law in the state. At the bill signing ceremony, the Florida Republican said Disney lied about the "Parental Rights in Education" law's contents and that he viewed the company's vow to fight it as unacceptable.

No.
You’re insane or maybe just dumb, ignorant and credulous.
I give you the benefit of the doubt.
Grooming or not it's about damn time for Disney to be treated like every other company in Florida.
What’s funny or ironic is you’re posting old leftist tropes and propaganda against Walt Disney, who the left hated, and their attempts to end the Reedy Creek agreement.
Now when Florida’s is going to actually do away with it, the leftists are outraged.
No, not the mouse Ron!
You will be hated by all and banished to Mar a Lago.
Heaven help your soul.
5.56mm
Ron Desantis vs Bob Iger. Both future Presidential hopefuls. Make some popcorn and enjoy the showboating.
“Walt was CIA”
You sure you don’t have Walt crossed up with Chuck Barris? 😁
Title makes it sound like DeSantis is a fascist and is taking over Disney.
I’m way past the age to want to go to Disneyland but if I was this would end any desire to go!!1
That started with the lied about ‘don’t say gay’ legislation. Reedy Creek development was used to entice Dizzy world to build there. Now, 🖕.
Disney corp == fags and pedos
The Wokesters at Disney F-ed with the wrong Gov ...
It’s good that DeSantis is not backing down, rather than going full establishment now that term limits protect him from Florida’s voters. However, why would he need a state-run board to enforce the removal of Disney’s special status? Just treat Disney like every other non-privileged corporation in Florida. JMO.

Walt would be raging at whats been done and said in the name of Disney.
I think one of the reasons and I could be wrong is the debt run up by the previous regime over Disney, it’s about 700 million and the last thing DeSantis wants is for the taxpayers in Orange County to be stuck with that tab
When Disney was first bringing Disney World to Florida, to land that at the time had little other value, they had all the leverage. But now that the property has been built out at a cost of many billions of dollars, the state of Florida has all the leverage, and it’s time to use it.
Those parks are kind of heavy and hard to pick up and move.
Huh. Walt also endowed the California Institute of the Arts - aka CIA.
