You can bet that if the public continues to show concern over this event as a possibility for other players that the NFL will come up with an equipment change to addres the impact area.

Non hospital heart failure statistics usually based on less than optimal resuscitation measures. Better to compare his case with witnessed cases in the setting of a young, previously very healthy subject with rapid, competent resuscitative care.
Either way......a big yay!...and thank the Lord.

As I said in post #37

Which is why if it happens again it’s gonna be very hard to explain.

‘Which is why if it happens again it’s gonna be very hard to explain considering anything even remotely resembling this incident occured over a half century ago.’

I was twenty two years old when the Chuck Hughes incident happened, and I remember it well...thing is, back in those days, overall health was more an afterthought than the primary concern that it is today; plenty of players smoked and drank prodigiously...I can’t say whether Chuck did or not, but it was later determined he had the circulatory system of a 65 year old man, and men of that age in 1971 were pushing at the edge of their expected life spans...

To be clear I’m no Doctor and I didn’t stay a Holiday Inn Express last night.

However, I do have issues with people throwing blanket statements about issues from their positions of expertise or in some cases ignorance. That said, gas-dr please address the following two questions.

1. You say, “ there would be an absolute way to link vaccine to R on T. “ Okay, what is the absolute way that link is either proved or disproved?

2. You go on to say that, “ I can definitively say that vaccination does not increase the incidence of this event.” You make that statement based on what facts? Please list EVERY vaccine by Name and Manufacturer that has been absolutely proven NOT to be linked to R on T events.

As NFL protective equipment gets better and better usually as a result of trying to prevent previous injuries and their associated lawsuits, why hasn’t this event been more prevalent say 10-20 years ago? Or has it been?

Bottom line, it was either a freak accident or the Vax. Hell it could be combination of both.

Where did you prove it? I usually ignore your quackery but direct me to the post you proved the hit caused the heart to stop even though his own doctor says he does not know what caused it.

“There is no definitive answer to what caused Hamlin’s cardiac arrest.”

Yes, the Chuck Hughes incident and this one are completely different scenarios and have very little in common IMO.

No, I do not acknowlege any of the vaccine conspiracy theories.

You call these ‘conspiracy theories’. The real discovery of impurities in batches is not a theory. Odd you would choose to use the CIA generated term ‘conspiracy theories’.

The only thing that amazes me about the half time show is how they get all that stuff on and off the field during half time. I don’t care to watch it, tho.

Yes, I call them conspiracy theories and the only odd thing is that you would believe the snake oil salesmen selling these conspiracy theories.

Not that anomalous. The bolded section at the bottom describes exactly what happened to him.

“Collapse is usually near instantaneous, but there can be a period of activity following impact, usually only of a few seconds duration.”

From 2000

Non-penetrating chest blows and sudden death in the young

Abstract
Sudden death in the young after low energy anterior chest wall impact is an under-recognised phenomenon in this country. Review of the literature yields several American references to commotio cordis, mainly in the context of sporting events. Two cases are reported of sudden death in young men as a result of blunt impact anterior chest wall trauma. It is suggested that these cases draw attention to a lethal condition of which many practitioners are unaware.

-

Discussion
We suggest that the above cases illustrate death attributable to primary arrhythmia occurring after blunt chest trauma. This is often described as commotio cordis, which typically occurs in the absence of structural cardiac damage. Collapse is usually near instantaneous, but there can be a period of activity following impact, usually only of a few seconds duration.1–3

"Certainly appeared to be an R on T event. What some are wondering is could the vaccine and boosters enhance the possibility of such an event. To address that question one ought to look at how many hits occur during the week of practice and then game time and compare that to the number of events of this sort. A close to zero correlation seems accurate."

COVID itself would make more sense to investigate.

Josh Norman and 3 Bills had what was probably Alpha, Nov. 2020.

Hamlin wasn't on the team then, but it puts a reservoir of COVID in the locker room.

But then rather famously, Cole Beasley had what was probably Omicron Dec. 2021, which ripped through the Bills locker room. And Hamlin was on the team by then as a reserve.

But to your interesting question about "how many hits occur(red)", I found this:

Bills safety Damar Hamlin's big hit on college teammate, Steelers QB Kenny Pickett, leads to scuffle, October 9, 2022

"Pittsburgh Steelers rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett made his first NFL start Sunday. His old college teammate welcomed him to Buffalo with a big hit.

Pickett scrambled for 10 yards inside the Buffalo Bills' red zone late in the third quarter. He started to slide near the right sideline when Buffalo safety Damar Hamlin lowered his shoulder into Pickett's left side.

Pittsburgh guard James Daniel shoved Hamlin to the ground after the play, leading to a skirmish on the Bills' sideline."

I don't buy for a minute this kid is a 200-lb. cruiserweight in his stats. More like a super middleweight rooster who hits hard, way above his weight scale.

From the looks of things, it was Peter McCullough (sp?).

“No idea of what happened? Was there myocarditis?”

reported rates of myocarditis ranked by risk:

after Covid 19 infection 45 per 100 000

after smallpox vaccination 7.8 per 100 000

after mRNA vaccination 3.04 per 100 000

And you believe those agencies? The FL Surgeon General is saying just the opposite and he is one of the top vaccine experts in the nation.

“The FL Surgeon General is saying just the opposite and he is one of the top vaccine experts in the nation.”

Ladapo has no more expertise than any normal MD. He’s not a vaccine expert of any sort.

The paper he issued has been widely criticized for cherry picking data and ignoring contrary evidence.

“And you believe those agencies?”

The paper on the rate of myocarditis from the Covid virus has no “agency” connection. Its numbers are based on aggregated reports from 48 major US healthcare centers.

The rate of myocarditis following smallpox vaccination is from US military data collected before the 2003 paper was written.

The paper on the rate of myocarditis following mRNA vaccination is from Britain’s Lancet, the world’s oldest peer reviewed medical journal. And I chose the highest reported level of myocarditis in the entire study. The reports are all given as a range, beginning much lower than the 3.04 per 100 000 rate.
