Did he still have the breathing tube in when he asked who won the game?

He wrote that on a note pad which indicated his brain function was intact.

“There is no definitive answer to what caused Hamlin’s cardiac arrest.”

No idea of what happened? Was there myocarditis?

I contend his age and being in exceptional physical shape made all the difference.

I doubt an ordinary person would’ve even survived.

Two of the attending doctors had a press conference yesterday.....one of the 1st questions to them was why did this happen....was it the collision with the other player or was it an underlying undetected preexisting condition.

Their answer was basically “We’re still looking into that”.

A total statistical anomaly? You are aware people survive VF arrest and R on T a fair amount of time. Particular when the event is witnessed and time to defibrillation is short and briefed by adequate CPR

What statistics are you referring to? I love the air of expert announcements that are completely full of crap.

There certainly was definitive evidence. Although he did not have a holter on the diagnosis is obvious given the mechanism of injury. Often how diagnoses are made.

Your statement about ordinary people not surviving is untrue. This should be a rallying call for anyone who gives a damn about others to learn how to administer effective CPR. The best prognosis for meaningful survival is time to ROSC usually by defibrillation and adequacy of CPR until ROSC.

The evidence is the thousands of people who survive meaningfully witnesses arrests in hospitals while they are on telemetry and have immediate CPR by well trained people and immediate access to defibrillators.

The day after the incident, while all the media ‘experts” were proclaiming that Hamlin had died on the field and would not recover, Jo Pags had a cardiologist-epidemiologist on his radio show. The guest predicted Hamlin would recover. I was quite amazed at how bold this was since most of the non-experts predicted he was already clinically dead. The expert also said that the injuries were completely consistent with vaccine induced myocarditis along with an adrenalin surge caused by the tackle.

Certainly appeared to be an R on T event. What some are wondering is could the vaccine and boosters enhance the possibility of such an event. To address that question one ought to look at how many hits occur during the week of practice and then game time and compare that to the number of events of this sort. A close to zero correlation seems accurate.

And if you had some demonstrable intellectual curiosity I would send you numerous text book references to the rate of survival of patients with short time to ROSC and effective CPR. I’m glad you didn’t send me the link. I don’t have to take the 20 seconds to debunk it.

I have. Your lack of willingness to accept it is not my problem.
