New Alabama concealed carry law now in effect

A law to allow Alabamians to conceal a firearm without a permit went into effect on January 1st.

As a result, the legal requirement for residents to obtain a concealed carry permit for pistols before hiding them on their person is now null and void, with the only need for a pistol permit now being to carry concealed across state lines. Those concealing a pistol in a vehicle who are pulled over by police are required to tell the officer that they are armed and are prohibited under the law from touching the weapon when the officer is present.

Law enforcement officers are still allowed to “temporarily take a person’s firearm into custody, under certain conditions,” according to the new law, and may temporarily take a weapon away from a person if they have reasonable suspicion that a crime has been committed.

‘Alabamians’

I read that as, ‘Albanians,’ LOL!

Good for them. All other states need to follow suit! :)

Good for them. Had concerns about that because some asshat leftist sheriff down there was really pressuring the legislature not to pass it.

I have several friends in Alabama, mostly around Jax State. They call it God’s Country.

In The Gay State (Massachusetts) you have to know a Rat Party hack politician to possess anything more dangerous than a butter knife.

I am curious. I have a CCL from Arkansas even though I don’t need it anymore. (AR is a Constitutional Carry State) However, I keep my CCP renewed in case I travel to a state like Louisiana that has reciprocity with AR but requires a permit. I wonder if Alabama considers it legal if some one from another state that requires a permit but doesn’t have one when traveling though Alabama. In other words, can a communist from NYC legally travel in Alabama with a firearm in his/her possession?

There is a book that has been published and is updated yearly though I cannot find the link to it now but it answers questions such as yours. I recommend reviewing usconcealedcarry.com to begin your search.
