A 22-year-old woman has tragically frozen to death after spending 18 hours in her car while trying to wait out a historic snowstorm currently devastating Buffalo.
Anndel Taylor died over the weekend after her vehicle was stranded in snow Friday afternoon on her way home from work. She is just one of 35 who have succumbed to frigid conditions currently being seen in New York's second-largest city.
The death toll was released in a statement by officials Monday, who announced that Taylor was one of three motorists found dead in a car, defiantly taking to the road despite a ban on personal road travel that remains in effect.
It was stated that Taylor sent a video to her family before she died and was trapped in her vehicle for 18 hours, as more than 50 inches of snow surrounded her.

A very bad decision.
There are people in the world who live paycheck to paycheck or who support others, not always by choice. There but for the Grace of God…
Tragic. I hope she fell asleep peacefully, assuming help would be there any minute.
It’s going to get worse, these political hacks are hiding the real cost of their incompetence.
I’ve been told as of this morning it was 135 an there are still a thousand or more cars abandoned and still buried in snow.
Nothing will ever happen to any Democrat.
Dropped to -32 with the wind chill here but only a couple inches of snow. Mrs L’s girlfriend spent the Christmas weekend with us so we hung out in PJs and had a fine Christmas meal. The ladies may or may not have had more than a few mimosas. LOL
NYE is looking to be decent. We have a nice hotel room with a hot tub and a few bottles of nice champagne. Once again Mrs L’s best friend will be with us. Leo The Wonderdog, too.
Pity poor me. Trapped in a nice hotel room with two ladies and champagne. Whatever is to become of me?
So good to see you about again. I bid you and yours a safe, healthy, prosperous, and Happy New Year!

There may be a thousand dead..................
Was she in an EV?
I gots to know.🤨
Hypothermia is weird. Messes with one’s thinking sorta like nitrogen narcosis. Encountered it in the Army some years ago. You gotta set behavior and activity boundaries. Like don’t go to sleep and if your feet or body get really hot recognize that that is a signal of hypothermia death and you must keep all clothing on, hydrate and exercise to reduce the burning sensation. And don’t forget food in your cold weather survival preps. It’s like extra blankets or clothing. 8k calories per day either from fat or food.
She may have not realized the tailpipe problem was a thing and felt more or less otherwise ok.
I have a decent 4x4 truck. I don’t even go out in the snow. But I have an emergency pack in my vehicle that would get me through a couple days in the cold. Anyone living in an area like that should know better.
I taught my kids better. Where is her father? He should be horsewhipped.
There have been two deaths in the White Mountains of NH since Thanksgiving. One was a young lady. The other was a young man. The both were unprepared to spend the night on the mountain. They both died of exposure. Each placed calls on their cell phones which means Mountain Rescue went out looking for them.
Each are deserving of a Darwin Award.
Because social media has everyone believing that the world is full of animals who will skin children alive.
These situations used to demonstrate how wonderful people were—they would help each other and “survive” together.
This woman probably thought she would get raped by anyone in any of the other cars.
It’s sad.
The storm hit without warning, so no surprise people weren’t prepared.

When stranded set utility pole on fire someone will find you
Been there done that. But if I had to drive through a forest fire or blizzard just to go to work, I’d tell them to bite me.
Here’s a hint: NEVER expect government to save you from yourself.
Especially THIS one.
Per Argonne Natl Labs, a modern 2 liter gas engine consumes about .16 gals per hour at idle and a V8 about twice that. So you could idle 6 hrs per gallon in a smaller car. So two gallons per 24 hour period if you ran the engine half the time.
Stay Safe Bub ....... Careful stacking those asset’s on NYE ...... LOL !!!!
MERRY NEW YEAR !!!
I always tell people that blankets are to be put inside their sleeping bag.
Sitting still in a car at 0 degrees, or even at 40 degrees is not going well with just a blanket or even 2 blankets.
People often find that one blanket is barely enough when laying on the couch watching TV, now try it in a blizzard for 20 hours.
If a person carries nothing else for survival, at least carry enough that you can calmly and comfortably nap while you are waiting for things to change, to do that you need to have a set of socks and clothes that you can use just for the sleeping bag, because they are dry.
Getting out of the car for bathroom breaks and other reasons will mean your clothes get wet.
“One would think living in the Buffalo area that would be a given.”
In the schools? Not enough time. /s
