On December 18, 2022, at about 6 p.m., a previous customer returned to Famous Sam’s bar in Tucson, Arizona, and fired a round into the ceiling. Another customer pulled his pistol and told the person with the rifle to drop the gun.

When the suspect started to point the rifle at him and another customer, he shot the rifle-toting shooter. KOLD initially reported the story:

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) – A man is battling for his life after a bar fight ended in a shooting near Grant and Silverbell in Tucson late Sunday, Dec. 18.

In an interview with KVOA, Mark Rhude, the bar owner, gave a more detailed account of what happened. From kvoa.com:

A shooting at a bar on Tucson’s west side Sunday was initially reported by multiple media outlets as a “bar fight”, but Famous Sam’s owner Mark Rhude said it was a much different situation that could have been more serious.

Speaking exclusively with News 4 Tucson, Rhude said it was an active shooter situation stopped short by a heroic customer with a gun.

Arizona was the second state to re-establish Constitutional Carry.

Vermont has always had Constitutional Carry since the Bill of Rights was ratified. Alaska re-established Constitutional Carry in 2003. Arizona re-established Constitutional Carry in 2011. In Arizona law, there is a local wrinkle in Constitutional Carry. A person may carry in an establishment that serves alcohol, but the person who is carrying is not allowed to consume alcohol while carrying a concealed firearm. The firearm has to be concealed. Why?

Hard to get into the mind of drugged/drunk person.

He was kicked out of the bar earlier for bad behavior.

It was my honor t be able to carry a side arm in Vermont for the 35 years I lived there.

It is Constitutional Carry, The requirement is simple, you go to the Town Clerks office where you live in Vermont, take the Freeman’s Oath to support and defend the Constitutions of Vermont and the United States . The clerk places you on the voters roll if you are a citizen, you have to be 18 years old. Then you can constitutionally carry.

Saturdays were a great time at the local ranges. There you would see your neighbors brushing up on their skills.

BUt where are all the shoot outs and chaos predicted by every blue state gun control crowd in the country? There are none in Vermont. There also are few to no car jackings, assaults, break and enter, or harassment.

And that woman you want to meet? Be very careful. She likely has a .380 auto in her purse.

Every state of the Union could be like that. But the ignorant rule our nation now. We need rid of them.

What’s the alternative to an “Active Shooter Situation”? A “Passive Shooter Situation”? A fistfight?

Ordinary robberies, and domestics are not considered "active shooters".

Active shooters are considered to be public attacks on multiple people with the intent to kill them.

“Bar Shooting Was an “Active Shooter Situation” According to Owner”

That is a dumb title.

No it is not. It is fundamentally different from a bar fight.

Wait, we still have a Famous Sams? I thought they’d all closed. I really miss their pastrami sandwiches. They’re the absolute opposite of everything a pastrami sandwich should be, and yet wonderful.

He wasn’t shot because he refused:

He was shot because he began to level the barrel at people.

I was witness to a domestic situation not so long ago where the subject was very lucky to have not grabbed a firearm which was in her proximity, and I said as much to my host:

It would have been very bad for her.
