My Mom just called me from Abilene, Texas, and said she thought she felt a slight earthquake. I told her to call the police to see, and we also pulled up the USGS website. The website and the police confirmed that the quake was felt in Abilene that happened NNW of Midland. Anyone else feel this?

Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!
I was trying to take a nap and I felt and heard it. It ended the nap, of course. It was a rolling, rumbling feeling. Crazy, huh! It was, as of 5:30pm, the strongest earthquake of the day, and the strongest in Texas for a long time. The epicenter was about 12 miles north of Midland, which is 20 miles from us. But it was still very strong at our house.

Yes, that one was in Mentone and was a 5.2 magnitude. This one today was the largest ever. I felt it big time.

There are some buried faults in the area. It is known as the Central Basin Platform. They are responsible for most of the oil trapped from around McCamey up to Seminole.
To: CatOwner
It’s supposed to be related to fracking.

It is sort of becoming an earthquake zone. Weโve had many in the past 2 years, but nothing as strong as this one. Most of the others felt like a car just hit the house with a huge BOOM. This one lasted about 30 seconds. Freaky.

We had an earthquake in a suburb of Chicago many moons ago. I was ironing....heard a 10-second-long rumble, thought it was a truck going over a nearby bridge, then saw the leaves on my tall floor house plants waving...then had a momentary-but-uncomfortable queasy feeling in my head and stomach.
Didn't know what happened till I turned on the TV....and found out that our area had a rare earthquake. I didn't think earthquakes happened in the northern central states like Illinois !
I'd certainly hate to be in a really-biggly one!

Nothing scares me more than an earthquake. Hurricanes, forest fires, scary floods, 1967 style Chicago snow storms, etc all come with ample warning to prepare. Earthquakes come without warning, and the buildings can collapse and bury you in a matter of minutes.
Another scary thing here in Florida is sink holes. But fortunately they are localized in a small area and haooen infrequently.

Nah, not from fracking and drilling. These earthquakes are from the covid vaccines.

Freaky indeed, Luvvy!
I guess more and more places will become earthquake zones as the time draws ever more near to the Lord’s return (Matthew 24).
