A Delta Airlines employee is on the mend after she was struck by a service truck at Atlanta’s airport over the weekend.
The collision occurred around 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, as the ramp agent was guiding a flight into one of the gates at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, according to Atlanta police. That’s when the driver, who police said was admittedly distracted by his tablet, struck her on the tarmac.
The woman’s family shared video of the incident online, showing the moment the truck hits her from behind.
Officers responded to Concourse C and found the agent on the ground “bleeding from her head,” according to a police report obtained by McClatchy News. Medics rushed her to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Authorities said the worker was hit by a lavatory service truck. The driver, who wasn’t named, acknowledged he was distracted and “looking down at his tablet” before he plowed into the ramp agent.
The woman’s mother said her daughter was in stable condition but suffered several broken bones, a fractured skull and a concussion, according to a GoFundMe launched by the family.
“She has had difficulty finding her words and remembering things since the incident,” her mother wrote. “We pray for a full recovery, but know that it will be a long one that will require much love, attention and support.”

Be very aware that guided automotive missiles in your vicinity may be unmanned by distracted media users.
And worse, may be soundless EV’s. Those suckers can sneak up on ya.
“distracted by his tablet, struck her on the tarmac.”
I’ll bet her tarmac is still sore, too.
A flightline and tarmac are inherently dangerous places. Be careful.
One time the hose connection came loose and I was drenched head to foot in pretty much raw sewage. Fortunately, Hudson General, the company I worked for, had a chemical shower nearby.
I stripped my clothes off and took the shower. Meanwhile, my clothes were gathered up to be disposed of. I believe they had to burn clothing that was exposed to raw sewage like that. I had to wear some kind of nightgown until a new uniform could be brought to me. My supervisor was not angry. He was laughing. And so was everybody else. The nightgown drew a lot of whistles so I learned how the pretty women must feel when they get whistled at by low IQ men.
No offense but the people from Portugal tend to smell pretty badly. I also did not last in that job very long.
Head on a swivel.
I dislike walking on the side of the road these days, too. Wait'll they get a lot of soundless EVs out there.
Remember this commercial slogan:
“Delta Air Lines. We love to fly. And it shows.”
Now not just our planes, but employees, too!
One would certainly think so.
Big planes & vehicles bumbling around.
Some being driven by bumbling idiots.
Wow. I just watched the video and I’m surprised the girl didn’t get killed. I get so angry at drivers who just cannot put their electronic devices away when they’re driving. They simply don’t care about the people they might hit.
It’s almost as if none of you have never been enchanted by video after video of kittens falling asleep!
“He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.”
Look, it’s a big, busy world, with lots of entertainment. Sometimes, folks are just gonna get crushed. Sooner or later it happens to all of us.
About daybreak monday, a 60ish woman in Hohenwald TN was taking her usual morning walk in her neighborhood, when a young woman driving to college struck her. I heard the pedestrian suffered broken pelvis, femur, ribs, shoulder, and fractured spine.
The driver was said to be fatigued from studying all night for nursing final exams. (Maybe the phone was the real distraction).
During one delivery/unloading, I was told I had a phone call.
It was airport security or operations. Person wanted to know why I left my escort and went on my own way.
Me: *”Well, my escort drove under the wing and fuselage of a jet and went across the tarmac. Guess you could check the cameras.”
Heard nothing else about the incident.
Great story!
