Republican primary voters have high interest in Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as a potential 2024 presidential nominee and view him more favorably than they do former President Donald Trump, a new Wall Street Journal poll shows.
In a hypothetical contest between the two, Mr. DeSantis beats Mr. Trump, 52% to 38%, among likely GOP primary voters contemplating a race in which the first nomination votes will be cast in just over a year.
The poll found that Mr. DeSantis is both well-known and well-liked among Republicans who say they are likely to vote in a party primary or nominating contest, with 86% viewing the Florida governor favorably, compared with 74% who hold a favorable view of Mr. Trump. One in 10 likely GOP primary voters said they didn’t know enough about Mr. DeSantis to venture an opinion of him.

I like DeSantis so far but there’s still a number of important issues he hasn’t addressed yet. The fact that he is getting “deep state” money makes me suspicious. Trump is more of a known entity despite his drawbacks. But I fully expect the media to destroy Trump’s chances with their relentless negative reporting of him, leaving DeSantis to appear as the only viable choice. It’s still too early to predict how this is gonna play out.
The only thing I’m tired of is Never Trumpers doing their best to demoralize the base and cause issues. Its almost as if they want the establishment uniparty to stay in power so they can be good little peons.
Well sad.
Put another way, people want productive solutions without all the drama. ;)

I live in SWFL and we were hit hard by Ian. The Gov has been magnificent. He needs to stay governor and get this state back to where it needs to be. I also an highly suspicious of his big money people like Bush and Ryan. Until he openly rejects them both, its impossible for me to support him for higher office because it appears he can be bought. I already know there is no buying President Trump.

There is obviously a campaign of disinformation going on to thwart Trump early.
Don’t forget DeSantis’s (lack of) covid policies like masking, social distancing and closing schools cost many lives, including my own. The experts said so./sarc
A) he’s not running
B) it’s too far out from 2024
C) most polls are nonsense
D) Ron has no platform
That being said I think lots of republicans think Trump won’t be allowed to win so maybe if they go with Ron the deep state will let him actually win even if they generally prefer Trump.
And then we’ll believe the polls.

I like DeSantis as well but he doesn’t have Trump’s proven economic/financial abilities. DeSantis’ background is mostly a legal one. The economy is going to require some serious policy adjustments to recover from Biden’s disastrous policies. Not sure DeSantis has the chops or gravitas to do what’s needed to revitalize the economy. JMHO
Exactly. And if DeSantis goes against Trump, he, (DeSantis) IS likely compromised as well.
I really hope all this talk is just that-Not true.
DeSantis has been an outstanding Governor of Florida.
If Trump decides not to run in 2024, he has my full support.
But, if he goes against Trump, it will tell us all that we need to know.
This country is nearly gone. Trump is the only one who can save it IMO.
Anyone who doesn't understand that, should not be in any office.
