Distressing footage has emerged from a Chicago high school showing a teenage boy with Down syndrome being attacked by bullies, as other students film him and laugh.
Parents at York Community High School were told on Sunday about the clip, which was filmed on Thursday.
The superintendent of Elmhurst School District 205, Keisha Campbell, said they were 'deeply disappointed and saddened by the actions of this small group of students', and the principal vowed those responsible would be brought to justice.
The clip, shot by a student, shows the teenage boy with his book bag inside the bathroom, surrounded by a crowd of other teenage boys.
The disabled boy is shoved backwards and falls onto the floor, as the crowd hoot with laughter and catcalls.
Some yell: 'World Star' - a phrase that has come to mean a fight is being recorded and will be shared online, originally on the website World Star Hip Hop.
The boy manages to get back to his feet and run away, hiding in a bathroom stall.
The other students all laugh and jeer.
Campbell, in an email to parents sent on Sunday, said: 'Bullying, intimidation and harassment diminish a student's ability to learn and a school's ability to educate.

My good friend's child with DS was mainstreamed. She had a great experience. She had very close group DS friends she knew as a group since childhood, and then was also befriended by a group of girls she called "her normal friends." (!! - her words - no one taught her to use that term). They were lovely and sweet young women.
Of course, it bears close watching and personal management by administrators - a job which should never be entrusted to any union-dominated educrat bureaucracy.

I hope expulsion from school is the least that happens to these monsters. My heart hurts for this victim and his family.
It's sad. I'm starting to see more and more videos of white kids emulating "thug" behavior, whether rampant theft from stores or fighting videos.
Just the other day I saw an article about a light rail passenger in Denver who was beat up by a group of "youths". Certain I'd see another generic video of a gang of black kids swarming someone, I was shocked when I clicked on the video and they were all white, beating up an older white guy.
White dads need to start policing their kids, especially the ones who think "thug culture" is cool.
God help my sons if I saw them on a video acting this way.
Downs kids are sweet, friendly, and so innocent.
The so-called normal kids are the ones who are sick in the head.
Children with special needs should not be in school with other children...
Children have and always will be cruel and mean towards weaker children, singling them out for nonsensical punishment... Adding children with special needs only exacerbates this naturally occurring behaviour. We’ve all been children and we have all experienced these forces of human nature that are ingrained within humanity. It’s not something that will change with ‘woke education’ lessons... People are by nature cruel to those who are weak... Some of us were bullies, some of us stood on the sidelines, and avoided the bullies and those being bullied... And then there were some of us who were bullied.

Never had a bad experience with anyone with DS. Usually smiling and either keep to themselves or they say “hello” or maybe fist bump. Why would anyone want to bully someone like that?
