One man took to Reddit’s “Am I the A–Hole?” forum to express his frustrations while flying one day. He wanted to find out if he was wrong for yelling at a mother to control her children.
“Am I the A–hole?” is a place where people can write about conflict in their lives.
The 39-year-old began the post by revealing that he was on a flight from New York to London.
His seat was in front of a woman and her two young sons, while her husband sat behind them.
He notes that it is important to recognize the family is Indian, and he is American-Indian.
So the plane takes off and the boys “start yelling about how this is the best day ever,”,but the man in front of them just tunes them out with his headphones.
Eventually, he felt something “digging” into his back, and he turned around to see that the young boy had his feet “jammed” into the seat.
He asked the mother if she could tell her son not to sit that way, and she did.

If the parent can’t control the kid, it’s time for the kid to calmly learn every expletive that could be directed at the mother as well as every truth of the world he’s not ready to hear. Let the mother then move them to another seat.

It does because the family was India indians too......
Two observations:
I don’t think I had ever heard the term “American-Indian” before. I interpreted that as “Native American” (perhaps Cherokee? Wampanoag? Who knows?) But I now understand that he is an American with an ethnic heritage that goes back to India. I don’t really like tribalism and I don’t like the confusion of endless terminology to distinguish this group from that group. I think it damages societal cohesion to place importance on that. I don’t want to keep track of a million terms.
Secondly, I understand that his knowledge of Hindi was useful later in the story. Therefore, his ethnic background being somewhat similar to the other people’s background has relevance. Fine. But I would think the storytelling would work better to more closely combine these facts: “They didn’t realize that I am American-Indian and I speak Hindi and here’s what I said to them ...”. Instead, he throws out his ethnic bonafides right up front as if that makes him special and only later on does he reveal that this has relevance.
I am becoming old and grouchy, but really I see so much wrong with the world today and I don’t think anything will get better until more people say, “I see something wrong here”. When I see things which I consider badly written or badly told, I am now making an effort to say something.
In the same way, if you mention the virus, I’ll say it’s a scam. If you mention the election, I’ll say it’s fake. If you show me a crap story, I’ll say it’s a crap story.
If we say nothing, the crap will continue.
A number of years ago I was boarding a flight to Los Angeles and as soon as I reached my assigned seat, a young man came up and loudly insisted that I was in his seat. I looked at my ticket and at the row and seat number - and I was definitely in my correct seat.
He continued to loudly insist that it was his seat until I took his ticket from him and showed him that his seat was in the row behind mine.
He kept scowling and moved himself and his skinny, pale and angry-looking wife to the row behind me and said loudly, "at least I am a Christian!"
I reached between the seats and grabbed his neck and said quietly, "I'm a Christian too - but I'm the kind that punches faces - shut the blank up".
It was quiet flight.
From what I’ve seen in public Indian families don’t control their kids too much.
No no. Although it actually muddies things.
See, it’s OK for him to be upset because he’s feather Indian (glad he didn’t say that stupid “NA”).
BUT, the real Indians can be perfectly upset that anyone chastised them.
If one of them was white, then automatically that party would be in the wrong.
Last Friday, Indians attacked my computer from afar and I am still in the reprocess of putting it all back together after a clean to bare metal Windows reinstall to assure the Indian presence is gone. Somehow, they gained complete access to my Pay Pall account and then to my computer
Indians are a world problem
Seriously? How much experience do you have working with them? Entitled and rude is the general rule unfortunately. I watched a 60+ year old Indian woman just cut the security line in front of a Hawaiian sous-chef I was chatting with.
We both stopped and looked at her. She looked at us, then looked forward.
This is to be expected of a country where a significant portion of the population are considered non-people.
I find it amazing that after all the apartheid garbage, India gets a pass for the cultural of human rights violations, and in fact they get a fast track to US citizenship.

I got confused by that too (see my earlier).
BUT, to be correct, he should have stated INDIAN-AMERICAN.
That would not be shocking language. We have long referred to ethnicities, particularly immigrants, as German-American, Italian-American, etc.
He reversed that usage which has been used as “indigenous” phrase, but might be interpreted as an American immigrant to India!
I never let my kids kick the seat in front of them. I know how much I hate that and will not inflict that on others.
I also explained to them WHY people don’t like it.
And I kept my eye on them during the flight to make sure they didn’t do it.
Kids can be taught how to behave in public.
I would have applauded you for that.

Because in today’s world if a white person complains about any behavior by one of another ethnicity, said white person is deemed racist and worse than Hitler. Ethnicity must be be stated to determine if the exchange was racist. Such is the world demanded by the left.
He didn’t want folks to think he is white and deem him a nasty MAGA racist.
I have had some olfactory experiences that weren’t pleasant, but that is most likely dietary. I have heard that white westerners sometimes smell like sour milk to some in other regions.
What’s worse is when you turn around and find that it’s an ADULT doing the kicking…
I’ll give little kids some grace, but adults?? No sir.

He probably should have written “Indian-American”, as he shares the trouble-makering child’s Indian heritage and felt more qualified to chastise the mom and kid. If he were actually American Indian, it would be irrelevant.
