Those who support the everything-is-great narrative have responded to the unimpressive employed-workers numbers by dismissing them as a result of workers retiring and other demographic changes. These explanations, however, require that we ignore the fact that millions of men age 25-54—that is, men of working age—have removed themselves from the workforce. When so many men—men who would have been in the workforce 20 or 30 years ago—aren't even trying to get a job, this lowers the unemployment rate and makes total jobs numbers look more impressive.
What does this mean in total numbers of prime-age males? If we look at the difference between total prime-age men, and the total number of them in the work force, we find that the gap as of November was about 7,040,000 men.
So, how are these men surviving without income? Most of these men are receive income from parents, spouses, and girlfriends. Among men not in the work force, this cohabitants' income "accounts for the largest share of income" in the households where these men reside. The decline in workforce participation has been especially steep among those with lower earning potential such as those with a high school degree or less. Many men in this category also report poor health and that they take pain medication daily. This also suggests high incidence of opioid addiction among men not in the work force.

It might have been Newsmax where I heard this (or it could have been Gutfeld!): Why would a young adult male work for $40-$60K when they can live at home and make more than that selling stuff on EBay?

Lazy, drug addicted or pot smoking, video games is their life, no ambition, can’t hold a job or pass a drug test, rotate living with parents, friends or their girlfriends who they sponge off.
Saw this recently a car pulled up in a gas station, nice looking trim girl driving. Her boyfriend in the passenger seat looking at his phone vaping. She went in to pay for the gas, she came out and pumped it, got back into the car and drove off while that pos sat in his seat fingering his phone the entire time. This sums up the a large segment of the modern males. Why women put up with these worthless incels is beyond me.
The commercials with the females driving and the males in the passenger side is the new normal and not woke as many think. Ask any LEO how many males have lost their drivers license or have no drivers license.

You don’t need to earn that much, if you are not paying taxes and you are prepared to do without a car. The standard of living of somebody earning $20,000 (tax free) and $60,000 (paying taxes) is probably not too big of a differential.
We don’t need men.

If it shuts up some of the males on here whining about the War on Men and how women are all leeches I’d call it money well spent. Sadly it doesn’t work that way.
There are also men that work for cash doing all sorts of odd jobs.
I have been thinking about rolling down my window and asking them for gas money.
I have been one of those for three years. Mostly barter for my labor though.
I don’t think so. Men have figured out the culture is against them and are not participating in record numbers. Women are rewarded at work, men are supposed to shut up and pay for the sins of their grandfathers.

I agree; that does get old. I just ignore those whiners. I figure they have “Little Man Syndrome.” Fortunately, they’re in the minority here.
