As the Arctic warms, beavers move in
Knowable Magazine ^ | 10 Dec 2022 | Sharon Levy

It began decades ago, with a few hardy pioneers slogging north across the tundra. It’s said that one individual walked so far to get there that he rubbed the skin off the underside of his long, flat tail. Today, his kind have homes and colonies scattered throughout the tundra in Alaska and Canada — and their numbers are increasing....

...Scientists have come to view their landscape engineering as beneficial, and even critical in some vulnerable ecosystems. In many places south of the tundra, conservationists have moved to protect and reintroduce beavers to restore stream and wetland habitats.

But in the Arctic, beavers are sometimes seen as unwelcome intruders that could disrupt life on the tundra. Beaver dams are already making hunting and fishing more difficult for some people in the Arctic...

Recover the DNA of the prehistoric giant beaver and release it into the wild.

This means animals are capable of adapting to climate change (man made or natural) by simply moving.
They will not go extinct just because we don't all drive electric cars.

I'd like to ask you one last time. Conduct yourselves with the utmost maturity.

But, but a few years ago the claim was that Glo-Bull Warming was causing the polar bears to move South! Wait till they clash with the beavers!

I can see it now on the SI-FI movie channel! Monster Beaver vs the Polar Bears!

We have a Beaver Lake near here. One of my working companions wanted to start up a liquor store there. Naturally he wanted to call it...ah, I better not say it.

All animal life in North America is naturally moving into northern areas that are still recovering from the last glacial maximum. 20,000 years ago most of Canada was under and I e sheet a mile deep. It is the same reason Florida has such a problem with invasive tropical animals now that we're in a glacial minimum. Now that Florida has warmed up a bit it's a perfect habitat to move back into where they once were. Tropical animals just couldn't make it through Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, to Florida it had success when people just started importing them in via the pet trade.

Leftists are such control freaks who are trying to fix and freeze the environment when t has always dynamically ebbed and flowed.

True story, as the author Michael Chrichton would call it, you can’t mess with nature. Paraphrased of course. It will follow the course it follows. When our civilizations are gone and mankind is no longer on this Planet, Earth will not show the marks of our scratches.

southern edge has alders, birch, willow, spruce and firs (for shrubs there’s bearberry and some members of the rose family). As the arctic warms, these species will also migrate north.

Consider Greenland; 400K years ago at least the southern 1/3 was covered in forests and quite livable:
“Greenland’s temperature once varied from 50 degrees Fahrenheit in summer to 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit in winter—the temperature range that the tree species prefer.”
