Putin disappointed by Merkel's words about Minsk agreements

Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, has been disappointed by the statement of German ex-Chancellor Angela Merkel, where she claimed that the Minsk agreements of 2014 enabled Ukraine to prepare for war with Russia.

For me, it was completely unexpected. It is disappointing. I did not expect to hear something like that from the ex-Chancellor. I always hoped that the German leadership was genuine.

Yes, she was on Ukraine’s side, supporting it. But nevertheless, I genuinely hoped that German leadership expected a settlement based on the principles achieved, among other things, during the Minsk negotiations."

"It appears to me that nobody planned to live up to these Minsk agreements… They [the participants – ed.] lied to us, and the only reason for these processes was to pump Ukraine up with weapons and get it ready for military action. Well, we can see that. Maybe we were too late to realise what was happening. Maybe this [the war – ed.] should have been started earlier."

It would be nice if people would look up a translation of her entire interview in context (I did).

Her reference to buying time was for a diplomatic, not a military solution, for both sides.

Both sides, not just Ukraine.

That’s not the conclusion of many, including German nationals. Like the EU commissioner Van Der Loon, who stated there are over 100,000 dead Ukie soldiers in her speech last week, ( the EU struck that statement from office transcripts), what Merkel said can not be retracted….she ( they) had no intentions of abiding by the Minsk Agreements, it was a ploy to buy time for the US to arm up the Ukies, all to obvious now.

Moronic. Minsk 2 was signed on February 2015. First weapons delivered to Ukraine, the javelins, was on April 30, 2018 by the Trump administration. Slowest 'arm up' ever.

Putin was duped and duped hard.

Even he acknowledges it, which was rather refreshing to hear given most leaders don’t or won’t admit such things.

Putin was confronting NATO, demanding we withdraw from the Baltic's and Poland. Now, russian offensive capabilities are neutered and no threat to NATO.
As to Putin's 'clown car' army who knew the extent of the corruption before the invasion.

"Russian offensive capabilities" weren't "neutered" - they never existed! That's been undeniable since March, and if US intelligence agencies were not aware of that simple fact before the war, they're as corrupt and incompetent as the Russian 'clown car' army.

But obvious facts never stopped liberal politicians from borrowing and wasting tens of billions of dollars, with all of the people, corporations and foreign countries getting rich in the process cheering them on...

Russia is still rated as having the #2 military in the world. Saying Russian offensive capabilities "never existed", is wrong since they crushed the Chechens and the Georgians. Without US weapons, Ukraine would have been eventually crushed.

The wishful thinking is funny, but would you cry victim once it gets back to you like in 1812 and 1945?

“ The West lied, impossible…”

The 21st century West is built on lies. In America now the government has nothing but lies, you cannot find truth in it regardless of how hard you look. It is dystopia and a dark age has descended. I expect that in Europe it is at least similar.

When America and the West won the old Cold War, it ended up ruining the West as well as eastern Eurasia. It took a decade or so of of the West feeling invulnerable, becoming monstrously arrogant and descending into societal hedonism…but in the end it destroyed both sides in different ways.

For such a “tough guy” Putin whines a lot. He created the situation when the first tank rolled across the border. He can end it just as easily.

Sure, because Trump managed to get elected, thereby derailing lots of things that had been in the works. He had other priorities, which he pursued. Hillary would've been more pro-active on behalf of the globalists, no doubt.

The only thing that was derailed by Trump getting elected, was Ukraine was sent weapons for the first time(Javelins) after more than two years of war.

Won't arm Ukraine until peace process finishes, Obama says after meeting with Angela Merkel

U.S. President Barack Obama wants peace negotiations with Russia to run their course before deciding to send “lethal defensive” arms to help Kyiv against the recent attacks by Russian-supplied separatists in eastern Ukraine.

Russia is still rated as having the #2 military in the world.

"Russia is still rated as having the #2 military in the world" BECAUSE OF IT'S NUCLEAR ARSENAL - which all of the cheerleaders pushing for US involvement in Ukraine conveniently ignore.

Saying Russian offensive capabilities "never existed", is wrong since they crushed the Chechens and the Georgians.

So, you're saying Russian conventional forces are a threat to NATO because they "crushed the Chechens and the Georgians"? Are you serious? You're actually comparing the Chechen military, or the Georgian military, to NATO's combined conventional forces, with nuclear weapons to back them up?

Without US weapons, Ukraine would have been eventually crushed.

There's the REAL comparison - Ukraine has a lot in common with Chechnya and Georgia. So why didn't the US send $100 billion each, to Chechnya and Georgia? Because (like Ukraine) they're not in NATO, and the US has no vital interests there. It may be news to you, but NATO is not the designated world police force, and neither is the United States.
